Not much more. As it stands, we would need 26 points in 22 matches to reach the lofty heights of 35 points on the year...a total that may or may not be good enough for survival. If we were to take, say, 3 points in our next 5, we would need to play like a solid midtable side for the remainder of the year to have any shot...doable, but a very slim margin of error. Very few sides have been as bad as us through Matchweek 16: in the preceding ten seasons of the Premier League, there have been only five who would be below us in the table. We're fortunate enough that one of those is Fulham, but of the other four (Villa in 2015-16, Sunderland in 2013-14, QPR in 2012-13 and Bolton in 2011-12) only one survived. We cannot allow this to get much worse. Edit: put another way, there have been 220 team-seasons from 2008-09 on. Our current standing would rank us 214th out of 220. We can't get comfortable down here in the mire.
Been worried about our CB’s for some time. Not seen enough of bednarek but don’t feel Stephens vestegaard or hoedt are reliable enough.
Please excuse my ignorance (and possible stupidity) on this, but when I used to sit behind the goal both at Stadium and Dell , there was a fair old bit of communication between (some) keepers and defenders of shrieks of 'Away, Away' whenever a sign of the defender falling into trouble play wise , or an attacker was fast approaching from behind , unseen ... However, in the last few years of my attending matches, I noticed the communication levels within the back line fell considerably. Such as with today, for example, would Alex have yelled (anything) to Vest about not to do what he was about too ? Difficult to tell from the armchair, but I just wondered if there was still plenty of hollering amongst the lads (coupled with the odd applause/compliment. ), to help cover each others backs...
He looks slow, lacking confidence, & doesn't win enough for his height. Bar the mistake for their goal he did well.
Regarding team selection oddities, the commentator on my stream said that the Hütt had said he was mainly going to choose players he could work with who hadn't played on Weds. Apologies if that's old news. If there's a game to draw a blue line under the game, this game is that game. I'm game. Vin
I agree, any comments I have is about our performance today and for most of the season. We have the players that we have right now and I hope Hassenhuttl can somehow get them playing again, but our quality of play is so bad that until January I cannot see a way out of this.
Just watched his BBC interview. He ends it talking about the two pens we could have had and says "Well maybe next week we'll be a little luckier" He'll learn.
I think communication like that drops at the same rate as confidence. There was no need to yell at Vest though because it was a simple back pass that McCarthy looked prepared to receive. Either the ball or Vests foot caught slightly in the ground as he went to kick it I think. It should have been a safe back pass - so kicking it into row Z was not required. Just one of those things that seems to happen to us more than other teams at the moment.
Alas, poor Yannick.. etc etc..! Exactly a year ago tomorrow, he had the misfortune to score an o.g for Borussia M, which ended that match 1-1, however within the Bundesliga for 2017/8 season, he did net (at the right end) about 7 times...!
Vestergard is 26? He was absolutely atrocious today, I'd maybe go as far as saying one of the woest cb performances I've ever seen, I don't think Chris Perry could be any worse tbh. He got away with two big **** ups in the first half, was never going to get away witn a 3rd
