I can't believe how fickle some people are. I have no doubts that mm is the right man and that he deserves a good year at the helm, but he has to be given some money for width and power up front. I have no doubt that we had a perfectly good goal disallowed either. We may make the play offs we may not. But we owe this man and his squad our support because for all their shortcomings.this lot work bloody hard.
Have to agree with you on that Glam , magnificent job done by manager & men this season for Cardiff . Here's one for ya remotesupport , if you could have 7 games remaining would you want the extra game ?
Actually GLAM, only Dai stated that MM is doing a bad job The Cardiff posts were saying he must get a summer and another season at least
well if it was dai who said malky should be sacked then thats a good thing if you ask me..................dai`s always totally wrong with all his assumptions. not a great game again yesterday but one we should have won with a legit goal being disallowed yet again.......................................the good thing is we are still in the hunt and as we know with the playoffs anything can happen, thats what it`s binn created for myself i think the playoffs are a sad day for football, when the 6th best team can be promoted over the third best team.......it really makes a joke of working your socks off all year in a league campain..............................
Agree Aber. I think it is in Italy that if the team who finishes 3rd is more than 9 points ahead of 4th than they automatically get promoted and there are no playoffs for that season. I personally think that the playoffs (if any) should be a two legged home and away game between 3rd and 4th only.
Dai and Jones think alike. Ive no doubt if Jones was still our manager hed have stuck with 442 and kept the Miller/Earnie partnership even though it clearly doesnt work. We have been found out. We need pace all over the team. We just cant take players on or break quickly. I think we should have had Gestede on from the start and played 442 or 4411 from the start yesterday. Malky to be fair did change things. Come the summer im sure that players with pace will be targeted. Will we have enough finance to get up though. We will still have players who are not good enough on big wages under contract.
I don't think there is a cry for MM's head. The guy has done a good job for the season and a superb job for the first half. My prediction was for a 5th to 8th place finish, having been bottom half after 10 games. We seem to have done it the other way round, flying out of the blocks and and falling away rather than starting slowly and getting better. For me it's lack of clarity for what we are trying to acheive as a team. I commented earlier in the season that it was only after some games that I understood MM's team selection as you could see the execution of the game plan. I'm sure MM has a game plan every time he puts a side out, but as we aren't winning it's less obvious. For instance, I'm sure there is a reason for playing Lawrence in the centre, I just don't see it when we are crying out for some width and wide right is his natural position. If he was threading passes for Miller or pushing forward and getting shots off I'd say, 'ah ha, I can see what he is doing', but I can't. Players need to bust a gut to get us in the playoffs and wht happens happens. A summer of change will follow wherever we are and come the end of next season will be the time to judge.
that is jones legacy unfortunately hilts, overpaying players for underachievement. so far malky's is overachievement on a shoestring... to people like dai who are starting to compare jones to mackay, shut up, he's been here 5 minutes and is a fantastic manager. he's not at fault for the slump in form, the small squad is. the players have done so well so far, its bound to happen if you rely on the same players week in week out, the cowies, millers of this world will hit bad patches, its just that we didnt have the opportunity to buy £2m players in january to kick on. i would have laughed at the people questioning malky 6 weeks ago, so i'll laugh at you now!
Hi guys Not true, not blue yesterday. We didn't lose and are unbeaten in 4 but how many good saves did Taylor have to make yesterday, 1 or 2 max? We have seen this so often since the Peterboro game when we should have scored 6 or 7. We just don't get the ball in threatening positions in or around the box and seem to rely more and more on set pieces. I am sure I saw a stat a week or so ago showing we have scored more from set pieces than any other side in the division. That has never been us before. Simply put, I have been watching football for the best part of 50 years and know when I team doesn't have it's (to quote Austin Powers) mojo. We were losing ours before Wembley, got it back for a day but have not found it since. Without a radical change (and I would even advocate Earnie starting with Rudy next weekend - and regular readers know how much I have argued against Earnie not starting) we don't have a hope of reaching the play offs and, being totally honest, I would hate to be embarassed at another poor show there. I can do without another summer of disappointment. Being realistic I would settle for a reasonable last 6 games with a few wins and the odd loss and then look forward to Malky continuing his squad building in the summer. This isn't ktf, wtf or icgas, just a pragmatic view as to where we are and where we are likely to be at the end of April.
Comparing MM to DJ is futile. None of us have any idea as to who woluld have been in DJ's squad this season. That said, I don't think that anyone who wants to have a go at the comparison should "shut up". I also think that if we don't question, we become blind followers. DJ left the club because he and the club agreed that he'd gone as far as he could with the club. That in itself was ambiguous........did it mean that DJ wasn't good enough, or did it mean that he thought that he couldn't take the club forward for other reasons? Given some of the candidates reported to have been interviewed for the job, I was disappointed when MM was appointed. However, I have been impressed by the new work ethic he's imposed on the squad and certainly by the start to the season. I've been further impressed by how he presents himself and his relationships with press and supporters. But, there is as remote points out, a lack of clarity in what's going on. The percieved lack of activity in strengthening the squad has raised worries, and perhaps an idea of where we tried would put some minds at rest. Of course, it would be daft to think about showing MM the door at this stage.....he deserves a full summer to rebuild and another season to see if we progress. However, we can't go down the road of another six seasons before we decide we've got the wrong bloke at the helm. In saying that, it might be good if the club made a statement about it's medium and long term plans..............manage expectation a bit.
