Doesn’t it rely on Woods passing ability in the middle alongside Seri? I’m not sure Doc could play that role and wonder if he is going to have a role in a team playing keep ball. I do suspect this style, of play was the intention at the beginning of the season, just players never quite grasped it. Sounds like under Ros, everyone already understands their role. That maybe explains the lack of a big ball winning defensive midfielder we have all been demanding.
It’s either Woo or Doc for me that would drop to the bench, and I think Doc’s energy has been pivotal to our turnaround. He’s not effective wide right, and keeping him there would mean moving Pelkas left and we’re still stuck with the problem of having two central players on the left offering little width or outlet. Every team needs a David Meyler too, and Woo has been the least stand out of the lot. Doc can just play simple balls and let others play the Hollywood balls.
Greaves initially against blackpool looked a bit out of place on the left But credit to him He's massively grown into it and i think he's very good defensively in this position I'm not sure we have anyone who can take his place at the moment Not sure how elder would get back in
He’s playing well, but he’s a centre half. It’s not a long term solution, and having a central midfielder in front of him also really is prohibitive, particularly in counter attacking. Once Fleming is sharp and back to his best I would expect him to be playing there.
I’d have thought Sinik was bought with that role very much in mind? Also both Tetteh and Ally played that role before injury, so I don’t share similar concerns with that position. I’m not sure a Meyler (or Doc) would be playing that central midfield two under this system? But the exciting thing is I don’t actually have a clue, it’s new to us too and I suspect it’s going to be great fun learning!
Is Fleming injured again? If not, seems odd he hasn’t been on the bench to ease him back to fitness if Liam sees him as the long term solution at left back.
Tell you what I was pleased to see was Pelkas and Sinik mobbing and hugging of Slater after the goals it was really good to see new players , foreign etc joining in with the spirit that’s growing . Build that and we’ve got a force
I suspect you’re going to have to get use to it. I’m pretty sure that how owner has wanted us to play all along and he has found a manger who is able to put it into practice and more importantly, communicate it properly to the players. It is about educating the players and maybe educating us too. Every press conference seems to have involved a discussion about this new style,of play and accepting the fact mistakes will be made. I suspect Liam sees it important that we are aware from the start of what he is trying to achieve, to ensure we remain patient with players learning a new system and making odd mistakes (which may sometimes cost us points).
Maybe, though I know Lo-Tuala is highly thought of. It's a pity Cartwright has had his injury problems, hardly playing this season.
I’ve noticed that. He sometimes just seems to switch off, and yet more often will do the dirty work. Suspect it’s more concentration than laziness. There was a video clip on here from a previous club, they cleared a corner and he going out to meet their midfielder who the ball was cleared to,but very slowly as he was more focussed on putting his hair straight. The unchallenged midfielder promptly hammered it into the top corner from 35 yards! . Although he has all the tools for the job in this new system, it would make it very difficult for a manager to trust him in that role.
I thought our shape was very good when we didnt have the ball When we did get in Cardiff's half we passed the ball better as well
