Great result boys - and I hear Hudson's goal was a bit special! Good luck for the remaining fixtures (and hopefully the play offs).
o'dea sent off for leeds so he'll be out on Saturday. Just need the Saints to win on Saturday and we're home and hosed!
With you on that H. I'd love to go into the playoffs with two positive results extending our unbeaten record. We're actually hitting some form at the right time. Just pointing out that 'borough have a far harder game than us. Weeds have imploded of late. Bet they're glad they got rid of Grayson now. Coling true to form and kicking the **** out of everyone. O'dea sent off.
brum have a tricky run in as well, Brighton and Reading. Blackpool have Burnley and Milwall. I'd settle for 6th, but 4th isn't out of the question. The way WH are playing, having them in the semis mightn't be a bad thing. Hard not to get ahead of ourselves. Whatever happens, it's been another roller-coaster ride. MM suddenly seems to be giving gametime to a few fringe players. Good to se Darcy get some game time in the last couple of weeks and Earnie. Cowie and Conway out gives Ralls a chance. Happy days!
had to point out to the boy that he won't see another one of those if he has a season ticket for the rest of his days.
good perfomance by the lads... first of all, well done to malky for going for it by going 4-4-2 with mason and miller up front, we lacked pace and width but after the first 10 or so minutes, where derby put us under pressure, we looked comfortable with marshall having not much to do. we must be the most solid team in the championship in terms of our shape, a very settled team with only a maximum of 2 changes a week means that although the team will run out of steam at some point, they know each others games well and it shows, especially with the turner hudson (mark hudson, he does what he wants ) parnership at the back, both had good games.# shrewd decision to play with 2 up top as we've become far too predictable in recent weeks and today malky addressed the issue, although kenny didnt score he hit the post, but again, has anyone see him win a flick on from a long ball? utterly pointless to do that, if you are to go long then get him running behind defences, especially as mason, who had a neat game, was playing... good to see ralls back playing, he is a confident young lad and i think he had a big future in the game.... finally, goal of the season by hudson???
It's good to see Huds getting praised this season and he's turned around the doubters and silenced those that slagged him off. I will admit towards the end of his 1st season I was also doubting his credentials. Proved everyone wrong and has earned his captains armband. Well done Huds.
The thing is H, I think he planned it, not just meant it. The commentators on Radio Wales kept saying how far Fielding was coming out of his goal to play the ball. As soon as he got the ball, his head was up and he was looking at goal. I think he anticipated the chance. Great execution.
Brilliant goal which made it hard for them to get back at us. However, guys, is it just me or were we not very good last night? Derby controlled possession second half and we hardly got a foot on the ball in the final 20 minutes. In fact, credit to Derby, they were one of the best footballing sides we have seen at CCS this season and if they had someone capable of actually scoring we would have been in trouble. Great performance by Marshall (my MOM) to keep them out on 5 or 6 occasions. At times we were incapable of passing to our own players and Joe Ralls, while covering a lot of ground, looked really out of touch with his ball and positional skills. Perhaps understandable with his lack of game time at this level. I don't think I have seen Whitts have such a poor game for a season or 2. What possession we had deteriorated when McPhail went off after his usual 50 minutes or so. I think we really missed Cowie last night as he does so much work in terms of marking and covering back as well as being a passing outlet that we do not really notice, i.e. the simple things that help us tick over. Both Miller and McNaughton seemed to be carrying injuries in the second half - hope they are fit for Leeds. We must improve for Saturday as we know Leeds have 1 player, at least, who knows where the back of the net is.
I reckon we have not been that good for awhile actually Blue. We have been working very hard, but our skills are often below par. But in saying that we really are defending well and working so hard all over the pitch that we are still managing to get results. That really says something to me, and it is why I am starting to feel that this season may end up being something special .
correct siam, i said we are the most solid team in the championship because all players put in a shift, even if they're playing crap and their passing is going astray..... BFB: according to me we're the best team on the pitch 99% of the time, and in hindsight marshall did have a just a little more to do than i made out but the S/W echo agreeds with me that the centre backs both had good games, derby had some neat interplay up front at times, and they went 4-4-2 as well, i remember one of their players tried to con the referee with a dive in the first half, the small centre mid for them,
