Not as sad as this little gem Angry confrontations as Cardiff City fans meet over re-branding By Simon Gaskell Jul 24 2012 Comments (2) Recommend inShare. 1 Share on email Share on print Cardiff City's away kit (blue), home kit (red) and badge AN ugly split among Cardiff City supporters reared its head at a public meeting of the Keep Cardiff Blue (KCB) campaign group on Tuesday night. Buy Football Memorabilia on Ebay The meeting, at the Municipal Club in Roath, was called for fans disillusioned at Malaysian backer Vincent Tan’s plan to see the team play in red in exchange for a structured £100m investment. Members of the KCB group had hoped to discuss a menu of activities aimed at reversing Tan’s decision and get the team playing in blue again. But a section of supporters, who said they supported the Bluebirds “unconditionally”, also attended the meeting and made their anger at the KCB cause known. After a series of heated exchanges throughout the two-hour meeting, attended by more than 120 people, the dissenting group were asked to leave but did not. Plans were mooted for a peaceful protest outside the Cardiff City Stadium on the first game of the season versus Huddersfield Town on Friday, August 17. But members of the KCB group were warned that if they disrupted the club’s preparations for the new season they risked being seen as “the enemy”. Speaking after the meeting, ex-Bluebirds director Steve Williams said: “It’s a sad day to see Cardiff City fans turn on Cardiff City fans.” During the exchanges Mike Roderick, from the KCB campaign group, said: “There’s a division in the fan base, a terrible division. We can see it here tonight. “What this campaign is here to do is unify the fans.” Another fan addressing the meeting said: “What this meeting demonstrates is both sides of Cardiff City. We have always had a lot of fighting spirit. “We should have been protesting all throughout the summer and should have a permanent protest outside the ground. “I don’t think this is one of the worst things to happen to Cardiff City, I think it is one of the worst things to ever happen in football.” Prior to the meeting, Kevin Roper, 43, of Pentyrch, said: “I feel I have had my heart ripped out. “But do you cut your nose off to spite your face? It’s going to be hard to go into that stadium when it’s a blue stadium, a blue seat and the team in red score – it’s going to be a really awkward feeling. “Do you say, ‘That’s not us.’ Or do you cheer?” Frankie Dee, 48, from Cardiff said: “It’s all about the city of Cardiff and whether you support your side.” “I don’t care whether they are playing Manchester United or Barnet away on a Tuesday or Wednesday night. “It’s irrelevant – it’s about supporting your club and your town.” Read More http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...y-fc/2012/07/24/91466-31466870/#ixzz21Zw4QAQr
KCB need to grow up and smell the coffee. 120 attended? Mass attendance for that then. Mass apathy more like. Nice try to deflect BMJ, Swansea still an unhappy place although Mumbles and the Gower must have been glorious today.

blue dont insult the english in the mumbles and the gower dude, they wouldnt want 2b classed as chavs from swansea
Totally pointless survey imo - ask the same questions to equal groups of employed and unemployed and you'll get two different sets of figures depending on whether you want to make yourself look good or undermine your opponents. resignation would be a good starting point David anyway, this 'meeting' was always going to go tits up although it reads like a scene from Orwell's Animal Farm - "If you dont agree with us then you must leave. We dont want any opposition" etc etc. So now KCB are being painted as the victims?...bless 'em. No mention of the recent threats of violence towards anyone wearing a red kit at CCS then? I don't wear shirts but I'm f'ked if I'd stand around and while someone who did took some grief from one of these pricks. The only one that'll ultimately suffer here is the club itself because you just know the media will be waiting to jump all over this one with their sensationalist headlines and all the recent work done to improve the reputation of CCFC will be undone.
Angry confrontations as Cardiff City fans meet over re-branding 33 people recommend this. . Anger over university's kitten 740 people recommend this. Taken from the WOL just now. I think it puts the "Massive unrest" into true proportion. BMJ, get a life and start worrying about your own team, they need your support, we dont!! 120 at the meeting and some of those (What? 20? 30? 40?) wanted to cause trouble even among the people who were all supposedly on the same side as each other. It's total rubbish.
Whats to worry about , no money , fans threatening each other, future uncertain. uncaring owner, weak board of directors, changes being forced upon without consultation, tradition being ignored , ?
It all makes for an interesting read and keeps us in the papers, no such thing as bad publicity can be applied to the rebrand issue as it has stimulated debate globally. Do I like the change in colour? No. Do I like the fact someone is investing in the club? Yes Can I debate the issue maturely? Yes Other cannot debate maturely and when you have a debate on a sensitive issue where alcohol is available then it can be extremely volatile.

Red ,blue ,white ,black ,silver or green ......... anything and i mean anything is better than being a jack ............................;O)
I suppose you can......? Pity no large crowds there to see it if thats true ,Dragqueen time to stop beliving your own press and those few boozed up ,used up so called experts that will agree to anything to keep their jobs ,Prem was the worst for years last season as well documented now so lets see how Mr Loudtrap does first is it ? .......................;O)
Now if there was a poll on who in the Championship had the most miserable fans , I wonder what position you would finish in
At least we can go back home to a nice decent place and not anything like that resembles swansea!!!!!!!!! Funny tho innit that as a Championship side we seem to get more crowd attendance than some small Prem teams ......................tells a story .;O)
John, quick question... What's better - league two football with 70k attendance each week OR premiership football with 5k attendance each week? You tell us.
Pegseller ,just a quick reply .............I`d rather watch Cardiff City on a cold wet windy Feb night in front of lets say our avarage crowd of 22000 than watch a small prem team playing in front of 18000 which is made up of at least 6000 just there to watch the away side ,and no not in the away end!!!! now you tell us who is the biggest club in Wales ,when we get to the Prem you will be small change as norm ...;O)
