Should Cardiff lose at Selhurst Park, and Middlesbrough beat Watford, it would be Tony Mowbray's side making the play-offs at the expense of the Bluebirds. Personally I think I would prefer Cardiff to qualify and then knock West ham out. I think they deserve a change of luck. Thoughts?

Boro easily, Welsh teams shouldn't be in a english league.

Why would anyone want anything to good to come for Cardiff, their fans are animals. Boro's are marginally better.

Good grief...

Anyone got an answer which isn't straight out of the EDL handbook?

Don't think they meant it in a particularly racist or even nationalist way (apart from maybe Jasper), but I do agree that them being Welsh should have nothing to do with it. Wales barely even has a separate national identity, it's basically England. I just don't like Cardiff's fans.

Mine is nOTHING to do with anything other than the company I work for wants to move my Job to another bigger dept , that dept just happens to be based in cardiff . If anyone reads anything nationalistic into that , then I pity them .

What you said was that the Welsh are taking our jobs. If it's just to do with your company then I don't know what that has to do with football. I'm sure you can see why a reasonable person would construe your comment that way.

Well if that's honestly all you meant then I apologise if I caused any offence, but I'm sure you can see how it could be misconstrued, by both me and PTF, because of the way you worded it. And again, I don't have a clue what this has to do with their football team.

I Honestly did not mean to offend anyone .

If I had to choose between Cardiff & Boro , it would be boro .

I have stated why I would not want cardiff to go up ,nothing at all to do with their football team . I am NOT nationalistic , I admire most countries & Towns etc

except Swansea , bloody sheep shaggers ...............

Don't worry guys I'm not Welsh, just happen to live Cardiff.

Though I can tell you Joe that a lot of people around here would take issue with your assertion that Wales has no national identity! I too was completely ignorant of it before living here so I don't particularly blame you, but believe me it's a complex issue which a lot of people feel strongly about.

I can't say I've noticed it. At least I've seen no more of a separate identity than that of, say, Yorkshire. It sort of just feels like a different county to me. Besides, in political terms it is far less devolved than Scotland and Northern Ireland.

This is true, but in political terms Tibet is just a small region of China (I am not drawing any profound comparisons between Tibet and Wales!)

I agree that there are distinct identities within England as well, I think any proud Yorkshireman would be equally offended if you told him there was no distinct Yorkshire culture. But there is this idea of Welsh nationhood which goes back a long way, and they do have their own language. But anyway, I'm not nationalistic and I think people of all cultures should be able to get long perfectly well.

As for the point made by others about Welsh teams playing in the English league, I don't really understand the problem with it?

They're there for historical reasons (there was no Welsh league, or indeed English league, when they joined a regional league which was eventually assimilated into an English league), and to be honest, the Welsh league is of a very poor standard; removing Cardiff and Swansea from the English league would be like taking well-supported teams in England and saying they could never progress beyond the conference south!
