Fair points, but he's not really a Fat Sam type of striker. He was brought to help WH ensure they got the Auto place, him not signing for us (MM has said he tried) helped them do that if nothing else! His movement and ability would have helped us this year, I liked what I saw in him up until the injury at Millwall. But even when we signed him he was only really the icing on our cake with regards to options up front. Edited to say I don't think we'd have gone up last year if we had signed Maynard.
Dunno about aiming higher - I think he would have done a great job for us at Championship level. Take your point about Allardyce getting shot of him (so it seems), but Andy Carroll going there clearly showed his preference a certain type of player. Suits his style - big, combatative and route one orientated. Maynard is totally different and he knew he wasn't going to get a look in. He effectively said that when he came to us and had no hesitation in taking up our offer. I firmly believe that had he been playing with the service that players like Whiits, Noone and Bellers provide, he would have got a hat full by now. Still, it's all about opinions and everyone has them. I've got no problem with anyone who holds different to mine. Good chat.
I would think that SB will at the very least try and keep Stockdale on a season long deal IF Fulham wont sell in Jan and SB has now confirmed that a DEAL IS IN PLACE for Elmo if we are a PL club come July. It has to be the strikers that we all focus on now. AND speculate as well........ 3 points is more than enough. Cardiff are most welcome to arrive at the KC 1 or 2 points better off than us. Would give the game extra uuummmmppphhhhhh.
