Are you on the rise? I lived in Chepstow for a couple of years and every time I went on the lash in Chep, Newport or Cardiff it was like running the gauntlet. As soon as a bunch of English voices were overheard it was usually met with hostility and sometimes violence. I will never set foot in Wales again as long as I live.
The thing I like least about Cardiff is Griphook, though having said that his worst qualities are also the ones that I most respect (namely that he's a ****ing **** but doesn't care who knows it). Carmine has a point though. The Welsh are an odd folk. Unlike England and Scotland it has never been a united and independent Kingdom, but is rather the arse-end of England where the tribes happened to be a bit less Anglicised than the others.
I was sat two rows behind the Palace dugout that day.... I can confirm Windass's theory is completely true from what I observed, my dad was fuming. Warnock had this look of a smug little kid. One of the many reasons I wouldn't want him as our manager.
I was there with my 2 brothers. Got basically surrounded by half a dozen or so in one pub, just being awkward and invading our space whilst making anti English whiney noises. Nothing startling, just edgy and annoying. Youngest, and smallest, brother went to go to loo. One of them stepped in front of him deliberately blocking his path. His response was something along the lines of ‘I’m going that direction, through the exact spot you’re stood on...you’ve got one ****ing chance to move or I’m going straight through you’ ...he moved and skulked off Battle won, but they went out the back seemingly amassing more troops and a car load arrived. We had one more then left the front to go to the next pub...we’re not stupid, but they were stupid enough to be confused by our disappearance from a pub with two doors
Sounds about right. Without doubt the most inhospitable place I’ve ever been to is Wales. Last time I was in Wales was when I met up with an old Army mate. We ended up in a club in Penarth( I think ) and I got spot balled by some local moustachioed meat heads as being English. Fortunately my oppo’s pals were all game lads and told them to wind their necks in, otherwise I’d have received a proper mullering. Racist scum, that’s what they are.
Mind you, in a clear racist parody...some of my best friends are Welsh ...well one of them, and he doesn’t seem very Welsh to be honest
They're really horrid, aren't they, these mountain-dwelling bigfoots/bigfeets/sasquatches. It's a shame we didn't off them all when we had the chance. I don't suppose the 'we must abide by the Geneva Convention' lot would allow us to partake of a bit of tidying up today. (In the interests of my personal freedom, I'd like to point out to any readers currently employed by GCHQ or other such intelligence services that all references to genocide, and my desire to partake thereof, are purely ironical/sarcastic and were utilised purely for comedic purposes - God Save The Leeks)
Cool it lads - you're making right **** fools of yourselves generalising with these stupid comments about the Welsh. Anyone can recount isolated personal experiences to support their bias - in the real world you lot can be as bad as anyone. Having lived and worked in Hull for a couple of years, I could recall a few but FFS get a grip and grow up. I suspect many others from this side of the border could recall some instances in the opposite direction, but don't choose to promote it on a football forum. Personally, I've no interest in where you come from or where you're going except in footballing terms - good luck.
I want to move to Wales. Somewhere remote and coastal. Pembrokeshire or Angelsey maybe. Hell of a commute for home games though.
Precisely. I was in Southampton once, a young lad in his colours walking down the road with his mate when some bruiser in a stone island jacket and burberry hat walked up to him, lamped him one and said "welcome to England you Welsh c**t".. Generalising on one experience is ridiculous. I've been to England loads of times, had a great experience in Hull / Watford / Bolton (among others), had a **** experience in Southampton / Sunderland / Southend (among others). .
If I was PM I would build a wall around Scotland and Wales until such a time it was possible to cut them off and send them adrift to sail the seven seas on their tods.
