West Ham havn't played particularly well since November, but it's been enough most of the time, mainly thanks to Faye shoring up the defence, Nolan getting goals and Green having blinders. I was glad when you got so far in th cup, I knew it would screw you over, and I don't really care about anything othe rthan promotion.
We've lost a little of the spark we had but even though it was a tough game last week I don't think it was our physical fitness that let us down. It was more of a mental approach, a bad day at the office, too much possession easily given away and not first to the ball. Hammers looked far more comfortable with Nolan and Faye having a good game. Was it me but was there a reluctance to shout from distance and try and get the first ball if the keeper spills it?
If this game has shown anything it's that if we're playing Gestede upfront then we NEED wingers with pace, there is no plan B, if we don't want to slip further away from a play-off position we NEED them NOW
I certainly think we were a wee bit tired, we seemed lacklustre and lacking in ideas and West Ham do defend well. West Ham didn't really show much flair, but they are very efficient at grinding out results, clearly a sign of a good team. No doubt they'll be up there, especially with the size of the squad at their disposal. Good luck to them! I feel that we're now well out of autos, and need to pull out a few fingers to re-inigorate the push for a play-off place.
poor performance, too many average performances out there today. turner looked clumsey, gunnarsson gave the ball away too much and it was just a sloppy performance all round, west ham deserved the win and the second goal was a poor one to concede, mccartney got past mcnaughton way to easily for my liking. west ham are a good team, they kept the ball fairly well whilst we did too many long balls, kenny wasnt ever going to beat faye in the air, we didnt seem to have a plan B once gestede went off... on the posotive side i got the correct result in my prediction
