It's a mad Championship. We get stuffed by Norwich. Huddersfield stuff Millwall. We beat Huddersfield and Norwich are held at home by Millwall. Ps - And for sure it was one of those nights for your boys.
I replied to Clingos post on our board; we’ve had our share of being on the losing side in games like this loads of times so this makes a nice change. Kalas was the difference tonight imho - if not for him we would have lost.
Nice try but Kalas was nowhere when Moore, Hoilett & Ralls missed straight forward chances from 6 yards. We lost because we couldn’t put the ball in the net, nothing to do with the defending. You are right though, we’ve won games like that; it’s football and that’s what makes it such an infuriating pastime to follow.
On last nights evidence we will finish comfortably above Bristol City. But its a one off game and theyve got 20 points so I presume they are better than what they showed. They are a really lightweight outfit though.
All teams have games like last night. If you cant stick the ball in the net and concede like we did you get what you deserve.
You can't argue with the points they've accumulated, but do you really think they're miles better than Barnsley? They can play some decent stuff but lightweight is right - we should have rolled them over and it's our own fault. The difference was they scored and Barnsley didn't. The goal they did scored was on a plate through farcical defending. Everyone sucked toward the ball on our right leaving the left wide open. Their guy pulled it back for Martin to make the tap in but Morrison should have put him and the ball in touch. Our own finishing was as poor as I can remember, and it wasn't just Moore. Ojo was indecisive playing underweight passes putting his team mates under pressure. Wilson and Bacuna were guilty of wild swipes at goal when a pass was on. There was no control in front of goal - did Glatzel touch the ball? Ralls did a good job but was sat too deep to affect the front line action. Overall, the general play was decent last night but it looked like eventually the only tactic on offer to win the game was lumpball into the box time after time. Not sour grapes at all, they got the points and deserved them and we got zilch out of that except expressions of "what might have been". Still say we were 3 goals better than them but we didn't score them and deserved nothing - that's life.
Yes I think they are a miles better team than Barnsley. Barnsley could barely string a pass together. They were that bad. Bristol City were bullied , beaten to the tackle and some of their team looked to me as though they didnt fancy it. Therefore we dominated them. Barnsley kept passing it back to us. I think Bristol City are better than they showed last nighy whereas Barnsley are just crap. I dont think the wurzels will be top 6. Probably around 10th.
They are not miles better. Being better than crap is pretty easy. We did a good job of passing it back to them last night. I agree about their playoff chances. Despite the points they've racked up so far, there are more than half a dozen sides better than them, and we're one of them. Harris needs to get a tune out of them regularly and not just one-offs - that's the big doubt for me. We need to demonstrate that on the pitch and that means creating and putting away chances - something we failed on both accounts to do last night.
Guys you do realise we have eight first team players out injured. We are playing our reserve defence at present.
