I'll settle for 3 points and missing my prediction. A point off second. Happy days. 24 attempts on goal. 11 on target. And another different scorer.
Aside from the 3 points and clean sheet how frustrating was that? Chance after chance going begging. Should have been 6. Bolton were as bad as a team can be. Put it this way City can not afford to miss so many chances v Boro. Did Etheridge make a save?
No pancake day here, oh and Sparky mentioned groceries. So I got distracted, I wondered where I put my shopping list...
I don't think he did Nin. Bolton's performance as bad first half as we've seen this season although they improved from awful to just very poor when Wheater came on second half. At least he got some organisation in their defence and reduced our aerial threat. Yes, we should have scored another 2 or 3 for the score to reflect our dominance. We will need to be a lot sharper v. Boro. They will also provide a much bigger test for our defence. Their winger Traore has electric pace. However some very good performances last night from Morrison, Manga, Peltier, Ralls, Zohore and, in particular, Grujic who had his best game so far. Once he finds the telling final ball and gets his shooting boots on he will be a real asset for the rest of the season.
Yes sheepy, but Morrison scored.... 40 quid invested and 80 quid returned - that'll do me. It would have been 90 quid if Warnock hadn't sent on Bamba with two minutes to go. I would have got my tenner stake back on him as a "non runner" - Warnock!! .......
As far as the game goes that was as easy a game as we're ever going to get in the Championship - Millwall are light years better than them. Morrison was immense and Zohore looked the part again. Grujic is getting better and I hope Wildschut comes the same way because at the moment there doesn't look to be 90 minutes in him. As Nin said, we should have scored at least half a dozen not just the two, but a win is a win, that's the most important thing and the manner in which we did it as well. With Derby losing by the same score last night, that was worth 4 goals in the goal difference stakes that could prove crucial come May. Another couple from us last night and we'd have climbed above them - that's how close this is.
Dreadful game last night, we were sh*te, they were sh*ter. Crap ref once again. Great 3 points. I thought Traore had a cracking game.
Funny how people have their own different views of games. I quite enjoyed what I thought was a very open game. A messy first 15 minutes when both sides appeared all over the place but then Grujic, Ralls and Paterson took control in the middle, their defence was shambolic and once we scored it was game over. My only criticism was the lack of goals from 23+ shots. Although their keeper made some good saves, especially from Morrison and Hoilett to keep the score low. WoL scored Traore as our lowest marked player. I thought he did okay particularly first half when he was up and down the line in front of me. He seemed to play more left midfield than left back and stopped their full back getting forward. Took his goal well. I expect Bennett to play Saturday as a more traditional full back will be needed to counter the very real threat of Boro's flying winger Traore. Might even see Jazz recalled in midfield, if fit, to man to man him.
Genuinely thought Traore played brilliantly! (Not even for the goal, which seemed to spurt some energy and confidence into him).
A sloppy start but total control there after. Let's face it though, they were very poor like Sunderland. We should have demolished them second half after going in HT 2-0 up. I thought Traore did OK as well. If anything Wildschut was a non event second half. He could easily have been replaced by Pilks for the last half hour instead of bringing him on for Zohore with less than 10 to go - Zohore could have seen the game out. I'd like to have seen Damour come on to give Hoilett a break (and earlier too) rather than Bamba - we were fine at the back and the Bamba change was unnecessary.
I thought Feeney might have got the nod instead of Hoilett for the last 10 especially after his good little cameo v. Man City. I guess Colin was giving Bamba a little sweetener for a few minutes after dropping him. It was quite funny when he came on. No one knew where he was going to play. He went to centre back only for Morro and Manga to tell him to sod off elsewhere. Did he actually get a touch of the ball? I thought it was wise to take Ken off. He was complaining of a knee problem after 20 minutes of the second half and then got another whack on the same leg. We will need him Saturday if Marine's conk isn't mended. Zohore's best game for ages while taking some heavy challenges. He held the ball up well and threatened to get clear a few times. Still can't head the ball and needs to improve his right foot shooting.
Zohore should have played the full game, getting used to coming off...looks for it like Whittingham used to! He had a good game though.....ahem, KZ not Whitts...he’s having a shocking season!
I think it is 17 appearances Masky, some starts and some off the bench. Whenever I've looked at their team in the last few months he has been a sub apart from cup games. Not scored for them yet either. Mulgrew is their penalty and deadball number 1.
Bennett is not at his best defending quick skilful wide men. This was evidenced by his being torn a new one by Fulham & Man City.
