Just bumped into a neighbour while out walking the dog. He's going to the playoff final with his son...... .......and he's a Man City supporter!!!!
signing carlos kickaballs for £10m aint going to benefit the national team ..but it'll piss you off.
£10m carlos kickaballs will pass through the club, the real lifeblood of the club are local players, seeing players like ramsey, ledley, earnshaw, gunter etc etc pull on the shirt and play with pride and passion, until allen did it you havent experienced the joy a fan sees from seeing one of their own come good. hopefully swansea will take a longer term view to benefit the national team, not the bank balance of a CK.
its a name for foreign players who see the money on offer at PL clubs, kiss the badge, then moves on when some other club offers them more money.
Can i ask one genuine question of all of you? Do you really care about international football. would you rather have a list of players in a 3rd rate international squad or would you rather get to and or reamin in the premier league. I know what i would rather. If being in a premier league brings better welsh players fine. If it doesnt then i am sorry, but i dont care. If every youngster with us who comes through or may come through and be good enough to move us forward was from anywhere other than Wales then so be it. Go and ask Arsenal, Man city and Chelsea, if they would rather produce young English players or be winning leagues and cups. I know what they would say. Myself andIi am sure every fans priority is they club, followed a long way behind by International football.
Yep, have to agree with you. Having youngsters coming through and making it at international level is a nice to have and good for the club but at the end of the day we need/want/desire our clubs to succeed whether that is through nurturing young players from academy upwards or buying players. Internationals are 5 or 6 times a year, your club is week in week out for 9 months of the year. That is what we live with and where the real passion lies. You still support your country and want it to do well (for the whole nation) but your club is No. 1.
honest answer, cardiff first, wales very close second. i dont understand why people on here often dont give 2 hoots about wales. i go to games when they're at the CCS and i support all players regardless of who they play for, some fans boo swansea players but i find that embarassing.
Swamp, I accept that some people enjoy international football. But, for me it is all about my club. There is far to much international football now. in the past when there were only a few games a year (distant past) I would watch it. Due to the amount of it at the moment and not only full Internationals but under 21's. (there seems to be a tournament on all the time) it is saturated and just stale. If i am perfectly honest i wish none of our players were current internationals or under 21's. Wouldnt have that constant fear of a player coming back injured from meaningless friendly internationals and dont start me on this f***ing stupid GB olympic team.
Swamp. for me you make a few good points... I do think its important to have academy's in order to better welsh football.. With regards to CK type players though, I too would rather not have them, but there is also an argument that having some of these players benefit clubs like Swansea and Cardiff's position, hence more prizes and more money for the club - then as in Swansea's case investing in an academy as well as inspiring young people to play.... Apparently when Swansea got promoted, there was a huge boost of youngens starting to play footie....
