I don't think any of us doubts this lad has real talent but it will take a strong manager and senior player to take him under their wing and guide him away from the bright city lights.I just think the allegations currently levelled at the lad are very serious allegations and he's been in several incidents prior to this. Remember it was indiscipline that cost us this season.
Sounds like a ready made Chops replacement, as long as his 'baggage' is sorted I think he'll be a good acquisition, a bit more info on the beeb now,,,,,,,,, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13854851.stm
Looks like the best think that could happen is for him to be away from his so called "Mates" in Scotland, if as HT said that the charges are dropped a few years in Wales might be the making of him.
Rhondda! Having looked at Sussex's link,I think Miss Frog might have other reasons for wanting Goodies at the City.
Malky doesn't strike me as someone who'll stand for indiscipline in his squad. If he goes for him, I'm pretty sure he'll sort him. The other thing to remember is that any purchase would have to be sanctioned by the directors. The Malays are strongly family orientated and are very likely to be dubious about bringing someone to the club with those issues. Malky might have to convince them that Goodwillie should come here as much the player himself.
Innocent until proven guilty as the saying goes. No doubt he'll take a bit of stick regardless but IF we get him, there's only one way to silence the haters. Besides, he's just gone up in my estimation: http://www.thesun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/2723771/Dundee-United-star-guilty-of-assault.html Anyone who puts a mouthy egg chaser on his arse is OK by me
"Sheriff Ian Duguid fined the player £200 and ordered him to pay Mr Reid £100 compensation. He said: "I accept there was provocation and you were not the instigator." Goodwillie, who earns £45,000 a year, asked for two months to pay." At that rate, Bellers would have asked for two hours....................................
Spark! A good endorsement on the BBC link.If little Pat Nevin rates the lad he must be a special talent.Just got to keep his Goodwillie tucked away safely and channel his energy into his football.
Bobby - always liked Nevin and his opinions on the game and players. I rate Nevin, and if Nevin rates Goodie, that's goodie enough for me.
Sussex, you've forgotten about Parkin. He's big enough for both of them. With him, Earnie (if he comes) and Goodwillie (if he comes as well), the average would still be over 6 feet and 13 stone.
I said on another thread, it depends on the style MM decides to play. He may not want a big man if his preference is to play to feet or to run the channels. A big man on the bench to change things around is always a good option to have though. Conway seems to be described as winger who gets crosses in so I assume MM will want some arial threat.
we need to get rid of this idea that you need physical players in this league. blackpool and swansea didnt have players who put themselves about up front. i dont know anything about non rangers / celtic players from the SPL and i doubt that most fans do, the only probelm is he's a 1 in 4 striker. seems an awful lot of money for a so far unprolific striker but his wages would probably come cheap
No more hoof ball!!! Seeing Watford play home and away last season I know the style of play MM will bring and it will be sharp short passing, good width play and plenty of people who want to wear the shirt.
Chops leaves for £1.5m with very poor form. For +500K we get what is being described as a real talent, who is scoring goals for fun. Dundee Utd. Deal
Interesting comments from Willo: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11704_7006718,00.html Flood recommendation Goodwillie scored in the win over Drogheda and his United team-mate Willo Flood has advised the forward to join Cardiff. Flood, who spent two-and-a-half years on Cardiff's books, told the Daily Record: "If I were Goody I would go to England because at least he would have a life outside of football. "I would recommend Cardiff to Goody. It's a good club and he would enjoy living down there. "They have great staff who would look after him. They've got a new stadium and training ground. If they were to get promoted to the Premiership, football in Wales would hit the roof."
