if they underestimate us I think we will beat them - & I have a funny feeling they will.... ( there now I've said it they will bring their full strength squad & batter us)
Am I correct in saying that their last visit to Ashton Gate resulted in a 1-0 home win? I would say it was around the early seventies and we were both in the 2nd Division and to round off my day I rear ended a car full of disappointed Utd fans just outside the ground and they were very good about the whole incident just giving me a minor league kicking (joking). You just never know EH?
Thinking about this allocation of tickets, I hope we don't get the usual swathes of seats in all the stands that are unsold, thats usually the case on so called 'sell outs' I have noticed it on loads of occasions.. and I am not talking about segregation or season ticket holders not turning up here. there is a very definite quirk in the ticket system at Ashton gate.
I just remembered that during my forgotten years in Canada with no football coverage at all that City were up there with them during the late 70s so my memory of their last visit to the gate is out of whack.
City v Man United - A closer look Thursday, October 26th 2017 The Carabao Cup quarter-final tie between City and Manchester United will be the 18th competitive meeting between the two sides at Ashton Gate. The last fixture came in 1979 – in the old First Division – when the teams battling out a thrilling 1-1 draw. Lou Macari fired United in front after 21 minutes in front of 28,305 inside Ashton Gate, but Alan Dicks’ side fought back. Dave Rodgers stabbed in the equaliser before half-time and City should have gone on to win it, with both Jimmy Mann and Tom Ritchie hitting the crossbar, while Mann also saw two efforts cleared off the line. Both sides did play out a testimonial in May 1993 for Chris Garland, with United fresh from winning the first-ever Premiership title. United’s team included the likes of Bryan Robson, Paul Ince and Mark Hughes and they raced into a 3-0 lead, but goals from Gerry Harrison, Mike Wyatt and Leroy Rosenior earned a thrilling 3-3 draw. The overall record in BS3 is: City win – five; United wins – five; Draws – seven.
I'll be hoping for something like this if they don't take us seriously http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/28847955
I will do my best to sort you one out mate, but you will understand the demand is deafening currently. I do have a couple of options that may be able to help but cant promise.
Will be a sell out underestimate us at their peril. Bring em on at the first sold out game at the revamped Ashton Gate
Their up their arses those Mancs glazerfodderWell-Known Member New We have been drawn against the mighty Bristol City Full draw - Chelsea v Bournemouth Arsenal v West Ham Leicester v Manchester City Bristol City v Manchester United
I worry about this - there'll be thousands of City fans who want to enjoy our day in the sun who'll be denied the opportunity by plastic, Man U supporting c**ts, who have never even been to Manchester, except maybe to see them play West Brom at home for their birthday present. I'm sure there'll be a brilliant atmosphere & I hope to be part of it. This far into the competition they'll take it seriously & won't be daunted - their fans may be complacent, but the team will be used to being expected to win & more likely than not do the job professionally & knock us out comfortably. That said, part of football's appeal is the great stories of upsets - if we were able to pull off the unthinkable, it'd be remembered for many a year.
Thanks mate - really appreciate it but please don’t go to any bother - the wife and son want to go too and I can’t ask you for 3 and I wouldn’t feel right going alone. It’s right and proper that those fans who turn up every week get first dibs over occasional attendees like me I will wait for a few weeks until the noise dies down and then renew my membership - if it indeed expired at all. I also know a family here in Swindon who’s son plays for City’s junior side - the couple are both Tottenham fans so they may be an option. Of course, if you can get me tickets without any trouble that would be great
I went hospitality the other week. Now this might be a more expensive way but I think you need 4. That way you get a meal and easy run to the bar and good view seats. I would think that this will not be everyone’s first choice and could be an option.
Rod is right, you can phone about that today and book on it.. if you go in the Heineken lounge its not even all that more money. We haven't played them in what 40 years or something, bit more dough but its not happening again anytime soon.
Yep same. I've already had 2 United 'fans' from work asking about their chances of getting tickets in the home end, and so have a few of my mates, it's everything which holds Bristol football back and it's a joke. I had a season ticket for 8 years before uni, and for various reasons haven't had one in the past 3 years since. I could definitely be a better fan, but I feel far more qualified than these ****s who just want the day out. It probably won't really help, but I thought sod it and bought Forever Bristol membership last night just in case, even if it's useless, I've wasted £20 on far worse things in my life. Only issue is that I think it only entitles you to one ticket and it would be great to drag the old man along if possible.
Daft question maybe but what's the dress code like, is it all shirt and shoes? I'm sure it's worth it but the thought of dressing up for a football match takes a shine off for me.
Its not strictly enforced Rob, I use the boxes but tidy jeans, no trainers and a collar ok, you don't even need to go that far for the heineken lounge, they do say no football shirts, but casual tidy is fine. (and this year no flat caps! which I have totally ignored!)
I'm coming to Cardiff tomorrow for AJ and Mickey Flanagan.. apparently you will busy being ran around town by Millwall?
