About 20 years ago I got offered two via the post from the DVLA.
They were literally my name.
Although my car at the time was older than the reg's lol so couldn't use them.
I've never really been interested in them or seen the point although I do realise now some have been good investment if retained rather than constantly changing cars and having to pay.

I've just bought a car with a private reg and I'm not sure how much it's worth but do know it's £80 to transfer ffs.

My ex wife bought me my personal reg in 1995 it cost £500. It’s been on 17 cars in that time at a cost of £80 a time <laugh>

Now I’ve just changed my name by deed poll to SJ67TZX it’s much cheaper.

It's a few years ago now that I found I was driving behind a Mazda RX 8.

It's plate was MR 55 AFC.

As the car turned off I THOUGHT that the driver looked rather like Nials Wife.
Nial was Chaiman at the time.

If so, Mrs SAFC.

OR, just someone with an odd plate!:emoticon-0104-surpr
OR perhaps I mis-read the number!!
