Ok, I've been patchy on this board for the last few weeks, but all of a sudden people are saying Derry's not going to be ever present? Now surely, unless an incredibly polished diamond emerges from the reserves / youth team, Hargreves signs and miraculously stays fit, or the board actually stump up a lot of money (sadly, I have no idea which is more or less likely), Derry's got to be one of the first on the teamsheet? I sure as he'll can't think of anyone mote equipped to play in the holding role next season, can you? Rant over.
Based on his performances last season, I am more certain about him being able to cope with the premier league than anyone else in the team (including Taarabt). Actually, I also really believe in the ability of Kenny too.
We'll soon find out, if Warnock doesn't keep Adel captain, he'll give it to unofficial captain Derry if he thinks he'll be ever present.
Warnock said he didn't expect Derry to play 20 games in the Championship last season, what makes you think he thinks he's gonna play 38games in the Prem this season? Good player Derry, and had his best ever season.. But the thought of him tring to hold on to Van der Vaart or Rooney or Lampard keeps me awake at night If Tarb isn't going to be skipper it has to go to someone who is gonna play all season.... That leaves Kenny? Ali, Bothroyd as possibilities.
I've never really seen the point in having a goalie as captain............too far away from the action.
