Jos is an indifferent player, but a very good captain, the team seem to respect him, if he plays he should be captain.
Cattermole has captained the side every game he's played this season. He may not have had the armband but he's certainly been captain
Fully agree mate. Catts is the natural leader of the group and should have the armband. He always has been a good captain, we all know his issues, but he's been a different beast since he got back in under Gus, even ****ing scored a goal man, ha.
Besides, In our system Catts' position is Poyet's most important. With Catts being the best leader we have and Bridcutt knowing exactly what Poyet expects from the system, We could have our long term captain and vice captain right there.
Exactly! It would be ****ing awesome if it all just clicked this season, all pivoting around Catts, who then gets called up into the England squad. I can dream, can't I?
Never say never. As you reminded me last season, he's a different player under Gus. His disciplinary record is much much better, which will be noticed. And it's already been pointed out, I think by RokerReport?, that Gus's system pivots around his key position. If it's successful, it's going to be because Catts has been successful. I know it's a very long shot but stranger things have happened.
Hope you're right fella. Stigmas are hard to shift and he has two, a false impression that he's a nasty player and he plays for a north east club. Poor AJ didn't even make the squad and statistically he was the best player in the league in his position. I fell out of love with England a long time ago, I've no faith in their selection process. I don't think it's fit for purpose.
I'm just day-dreaming mate, but I think you maybe a little out of date about the volatility bit. Last season he had 1 red, early on, I think PDC might still have been there, and 7 yellows. I doubt that's any different to any other PL player in a similar position.
2010/11 season, 24 games- 10 yellows & 2 reds 2011/12 season, 28 games- 13 yellows & 1 red 2012/13 season, 14 games- 3 yellows & 1 red 2013/14 season, 33 games- 6 yellows & 1 red Gus has done wonders with him if you ask me.
Dunno, wasn't he under 21 captain a few times, despite having the red mist issues? I think he's got a chance if he continues with the improvement in his passing, which has been very, very impressive under Gus.
I think he's good enough to have had a call up. I've just no faith in the selection process. He was Pearce's captain right through.
