For my money our skipper must be someone the players respect and look up to who leads by example... If i were Powell I'd keep my powder dry and see if any stand out candidates come to the fore both in training and friendly matches between now of the start of the season. If nobody stands out for the job, I'd give it to either the biggest character or the one with the biggest mouth.
There's a lot to be said for that approach, Franco - nothing worse than a quiet Captain - ssssssshhhh...
