Good achievement and just reward for a long and distinguished career. Not Captain material in the real sense of the word, but a fitting honour for the occasion.
Have you seen how the rags are getting their knickers in a twist over this?!?! Purely because most of them are ****s and ash wont speak to them!!
Any sane person can see it is right and proper to given the player the armband for a 1 off as a thank you for such great service to his country; especially given it is a meaningless friendly after all.
Some papers are listing his misdemenours as reasons not to give him the armband (for 1 effing game!)...as if the last few captains have been perfect!! *cough* Rio, Terry, Gerrard etc

Ash gets far too much stick, the only people who have a right to dislike him are Arsenal fans. He's no saint but booing him every game was way OTT.

all I'm saying is I can watch the matches but I ain't going to get any autographs and my dinner party of celebrities wouldn't include any football players.
