On the basis that Bellamy does not manage to get back to us, who will be captain for next year?
Hudson, McPhail, McNaughton possibly, or is the search on for a real swashbuckler similiar to Graham kavanagh somebody born for the part?
It`s dawned on me that we have lost the likes of the aforementioned Bellamy, Betty, Chopra, Burke, Koumas, Oli, and Feeney.....and we are still optimistic about the coming season.
Cardiff City fans of old could only ever dream about the above scenario!

Wasn't Hudson club captain last year & Bellers team captain ?, I'd pick McPhail but not sure he'll get into the team.

I like McPhail, but can't see him playing most games. If we get a really good defensive mid in, I think Macca's days might be numbered. As accomplished as he is as a player...

No idea who might be captain yet. Huds probably the favourite. Earnie would be good but might not start a lot of games. Maybe it's a new face yet to come to the club?

I like the idea of a club captan, even if he's not the captain on match day. Someone to represent the players, a confidante of the manager. I'd like a steadying voice off the field, someone to put their arms around a player having a rough time or to gee up players when they need it. On match day you may need a chest beater and shouter.

Hudson may still be the man for club captain. Doesn't stop there being a different captain on match day.

Similarly, you need a group of senior pros to mentor others on and off the field.

McPhail won't be first choice but handy to have in the squad. How long was his contract extension? Anyway there are others to shift first, Naylor, Gyepes and Taiwo being 3 to spring to mind.

Hudson likely to be overall skipper unless Malky has another gem up his sleeve.

Will McNugget be a good captain? Not sure. Great player for us but seems quite quiet. You don't always need a shouter and screamer, but they need to speak when needed. Difficult to say unless you see them in training or in the dressing room. Same with Whitts, to introverted. Earnie may be your man.

Agreed regarding McNuggs and Whitts. I sit quite close to the pitch and both are not very communicative players - they prefer to get on with their own jobs within the team framework.

Also, not sure about Earnie as the captain needs to be on the pitch for the full 90 mins where possible and that has not been the norm for Earnie. I don't particularly like strikers as captains either - usually facing backwards until they get their chances and not always involved in the game.

If Hudson is not suitable and a certain person renews the form he showed while elsewhere last season, how about Gerrard? If he is a first choice on the team sheet then a shoe in. Always up for the game, is happy communicating with his colleagues (won't talk about him and Marshall at Forest season before last or his little fist contacting head moment with Bothroyd in Portugal) and passionate about his team. Looks ideal to me.
