It is a truth generally acknowledged that it is far easier to win an argument if you get to write the other side's responses for them
if we're going to turn every thread into a stat fest, we might as well let the real Fredor out of his box........... At least it was fun pulling his attempts apart
Yes but this is the process up and down the country. The budgets don't start getting extended elsewhere once the budget is used. Rafa knew what the budgets were (bar in this window) and sanctioned each and every purchase. As Rafa has said previously no one will arrive at the football club without his say so, he has final say on all footballing matters. Perhaps he forgot to keep tally as he went?
Its not hard to write the responses though when you've had the same lame responses presented on 35678 occasions.

Pity if he does go. Sort of player Rafa would want to build a team round if we stay up and have money to spend in Summer. Always good to have a captain at back so if Dummett is still our best left back would go with him. Otherwise maybe Merino.
I think the boy is actually quite switched on and knows his importance to the club. I might be crazy but I don’t think he would want to leave I think he is quite happy. He can be a legend for the club. He has things to improve for sure but he does the basics well and reads the game well but what he does best is lead. That is invaluable. You can build a team around that sort of player. On the England thing I think he will go but maybe not play but the experience would b invaluable to him.
Really hope he stays. He's never come across as a money grabbing bling merchant so for me I hope he rebuffs advances from the moneybags clubs. Unfortunately our club, and fat Mike won't rebuff those advances. I can see the scenario where he is forced out the door for £50m to allow fatty to walk away from the club with his £50m 'gap' in valuation.
He's the sort of lad who would probably stick around if the club show a touch of ambition. Another big Summer looms in terms of ownership, Rafa and expenditure. If we lose the boss, keep Mike and have another Anita window, he'll be offski. If he goes, we'll just add him to the loooooooooooooooooooong list of people who disagree with pouchy about Mike.
Little we can do to prevent a departure if a big club comes in. It’s whether they will want to pay the astronomical fees we put on players. Knowing Ashley, the current market, Rafas feelings, I’d say it would be something ridiculous like 50m. If not more. That might seem like bullshit or daft to an outsider but you have to understand our owner. We got Spurs to pay 30m for Sissoko. We got Liverpool to play 35m for Carroll. We got PSG to pay 20m for Cabaye. We Liverpool to pay 25m for Gini. The market is increasing and this lad is a genuine talent. He’s English. I honestly think Ashley would ask something like that. It won’t matter though because when the new investors take over in the summer and we become the new Man C he will want to stay
Don’t be daft. There is no such thing as player loyalty in football. I’d be surprised if he didn’t want the move if the chance came along. Just the nature of the beast now. It won’t matter what Rafa says, Ashley does or what is happening here. He will just think “yeah but they spend 75m on a player and 150m-200m in a summer” We’ve only sold when they’ve wanted out. We’ve got paid for it aswell. The one thing that can not be levelled at Ashley is he sells all our best players. Our best players just don’t want to stay. Welcome to the 2nd tier of the PL. We get good money for them which makes the club stable.
Duno about that. We sold Carroll and he still maintains now he didn't want out. I agree mind, loyalty means literally nil in football today. For all Carroll's talk, he was happy to take the wages and signing on fees to move. If Lascelles goes I won't be disappointed in him. I will for him though, a few **** games at a team like Chelsea and you could end up in the Loic Remy sort of bracket.
Ashley will want £75m for him. I would too to be honest because he's a class act and probably a future England captain. Should give Rafa about £150m to spend in the summer although I'd prefer him to stay but if they are going to triple his wages and offer him a strong chance of winners medals he'll choose Chelsea or Man City over little old us. Sad but true fact of life unfortunately.
I didn't say he was loyal, just that he was the type to like being a big fish in a smaller pond. Some players are just like that. I think this Summer the lad will see how it goes but if we look poor in our efforts will want to be out immediately while his stock is rising. Likelihood is that in time the club doesn't match his ability or ambitions anyway. If he keeps progressing, the chances of a 28 year old Lascelles still captaining Newcastle or somewhere between zilch and zero.
Seriously I know a lad who knows Carroll and Carroll did not mind the move to Liverpool at all. The wage jump he got was astronomical. He asked if we could match it, or rather his agent did, and we said we couldn't. He laughs at the rumours of a move back to Newcastle too. He loves life in London, has a great pad on Canary Wharf. He is getting paid an absolute fortune. I'm sure he's on something like 90K a week. He was 80k a week at Liverpool. I know the fans want to believe their local hero wanted to stay. He did but only if they paid him a wage they couldn't afford. And there is nothing wrong with it either. He is entitled to improve his situation. Indeed it turned out to be a great move for us too as we spent the money well on the likes of Cabaye etc. Same goes for Lascelles, as you say its fair enough. We can't offer him what they can. Financially or in terms of the likelihood that he'd get international recognition. He is just as likely to be a spare part of course but he'll back himself like they all do. I can't think of any like that in the modern age. Certainly not of Lascelles ability.
