On Sunday there were three English Centre-halves on the field. Two of them have 55 full England caps between them. The other has none. As an England fan, I know which one I'd prefer see going to the world cup, and he wasn't in red.
It’s a shame Lascelles plays for us in some ways. He would have a greater chance with England at a better club. While Lascelles is no world beater, neither are the likes of Stones, Cahill, Smalling, Jones, Maguire or Keane etc. No doubt Stones, Cahill, Keane and Jones will get the nod. I don’t have a massive problem with it but Lascelles would not look out of place. Jones takes a lot stick but actually Man U defence has been very good under Jose. He has brought both the centre backs on. Their current form is poor but they’ve had decent seasons. By contrast Stones and Keane have had really poor seasons but the latter is now showing signs of recovery.
Am I correct in thinking that if they lose to Boro this month, that'll be 6 in a row?? Asking for a friend
It will be indeed: 30 Oct 2012 Sunderland v Middlesbrough L 0-1 League Cup 21 Aug 2016 Sunderland v Middlesbrough L 1-2 Premier League 26 Apr 2017 Middlesbrough v Sunderland L 1-0 Premier League 05 Nov 2017 Middlesbrough v Sunderland L 1-0 League Championship 06 Jan 2018 Middlesbrough v Sunderland L 2-0 FA Cup
Cos EVERYONE on this board loves statistics.... We’ve won 27 points in the 18 games he’s played, taking just 1 point in the other 9 games when he’s been injured. We’ve conceded less in the 18 games he’s played (17) than we did in the 9 games he’s missed this season (19). We concede an average of 0.9 goals per game when he plays and a whopping 2.8 goals per game when he doesn’t. With 3 league goals this season, he’s our 2nd top scorer. Only Joselu has more in the league (4 goals) His 3 goals have been influential, turning potential draws against Swansea and Stoke into wins, with his goal against Burnley also earning us a point in the end (meaning we would’ve had 5 points less without his 3 goals)
Rafa was so lucky that Pardew identified his talent and had the foresight to sign him before he left the club. Signed Pouchy
Out of interest, in how many of the 9 games that he was out was Dummet also out ? Not a knock at anyone, just interested if the goals conceded figure is down just to his absence or is a combined thing
Couldn't tell you that mate but a good point, probably all of them? But Dummett was missing for our decent run earlier in the season wasn't he?
I didn't need to say it. Deep down everyone knows it. However it is easier to blame all the ones which haven't worked out on him, and then give him no credit for the ones that did. You know our fans, they are walking contradictions. Its the same with Rafa and the money. "We've not spent any money Ashley is tight" "He's had loads of money, everything we have generated as promised" "Generated from sales" "What like Spurs and Southampton?" "Er...he took over a relegated side" "Huddersfield were close to relegation from the Championship before Wagner came" "Er...Ashley's a ****, Rafa is great, **** off with your facts"
http://www.skysports.com/football/n...united-players-went-missing-against-newcastle Mind he did commit the cardinal Jakarta sin of calling Man United "United"
We've spent money under Rafa, once, in the championship. But you like to ignore a glaringly obvious facet of the whole thing, it's well established Rafa hands a list of players to Charnley, who proceeds to set what we pay for each individual player (after Ashley okays it of course). Rafa wasn't choosing what offers were made. So I guess then your facts about money spent become, dare I say it, pointless statistics?
