I'm not really concerned with getting a "big" draw. When we were in League 1 it would have been exciting but we're among the big boys now and we play them all at least twice a season anyway, in a more important competition. Leicester at home would be our best chance of progressing, and with the opportunity to play a slightly weakened side as well, so I'll be wanting that.
Agree. I want to see our 2nd team playing well together and comprehensively dominating a NPC team. If we could beat a lower half prem team with our 2nd string that would really be something.
For the Sunderland game we play a full 2nd side. It would probably include: Davis; Chambers, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Fox; Cork, JWP; Isgrove, Ramirez, Guly; Lee. And if Sunderland did the same: Mannone; Dossena, Diakité, Cuellar, Roberge/Brown; Mavrias, Ba/Cabral, Ki/Vaughan, Karlsson Wickham, Ji. Both have standout players, but feel Southampton's is the stronger of the two.
------------------Davis------------------ Chambers----Yoshi----Hoiveld-----Fox --------Cork-------Davis--------------- -JWP------Ramierez------------Guly- ---------------Lee--------------------- Wand Davis in the team, also want JWP in there. On the bench I would have some yoof Isgrove/Rowe... Targett? But also J-Rod as I want to win this one.
Far too many changes for my liking, I would go with: ------------------------Boruc------------------ ----Chambers----Yoshida---Fonte----Clyne -----------------Cork------Wanyama------ ------JWP------------Ramirez-------Lallana -------------------Rodriguez--------------- Subs, K. Davis, Shaw, Lovren, Morgan, S. Davis, Osvaldo, Lambert.
I agree I don't like lots of changes too but it seems to be what we're doing in the cup. I think Jesus is very much the man in control here and Poch will want to rest and work on the training ground with the 1st XI. My only concern is that it doesn't look like our 2nd string plays together much. The occasional run out in the development squad is not enough!
Wouldn't be shocked to see Dani starting against Sunderland, if he's back to fitness and Poch opts for an unchanged side against Stoke. If we go through, a home draw against Stoke works for me. I'd add West Ham to that, but I'd much prefer not to have to watch them.
Perhaps it would be good as a back up plan to see two big sides reach the final. Chelsea v Man City would likely see a Europa league space added to 6th place
Have to wait now because we have to have an extra 30 mins of this boring game. Couldn't they just do the draw anyway
Wouldn't even need that. Would just need a big side to win it. (But, yes, of course, if they weren't playing a fellow European qualifier in the final, they'd be the risk of them losing the final).
