It´s that time of the year again
When I ask you to take up your pen,
And write a short piece
As a Yuletide release
Reflecting Adams and his men

Or whatever else you can find
With a Canary flavour in mind,
Witty or not
They´ll go in the pot
And three will end up sealed and signed

To be sent by Canary post
To NCFC, our kind host,
For all then to see
In match day glory
When the chosen, we can all toast.

Just had it confirmed today, that the Club will again support this for the 6th year running, so you´re all welcome to try your hand. As usual, please try and keep them fairly clean, as they are going to be presented for unrestricted viewing ( the three chosen at any rate).

Deadline for showing off your talents - Christmas Eve 10 pm

<cheers> rbf

Perhaps if one of the mods could ´stick´ this for the next month or so, please, so we know where to find it

with thanks in advance, rbf

This is Norwich, a very fine City,
We want your love, not your pity.
Although we came down,
We won't hang around,
We're going back up, playing pretty!

We're the lads in yellow & green
And under Phelan we're sure to get mean
With the goals now coming from a fit again Hooper
The future will soon be once again super
So lets all get on Adams side
Hold tight, lets just enjoy the ride !

Of late the City boat has been rocked
Not least due to players that are crocked
But while we're in disarray
There are points yet to play
So we'll recover or I will be shocked

You did wear a frown
Seeing Norwich go down
But came out of your shell and started off well
It wasn't too last and slipped down the league fast
But there's always the cup and watching Ipswich go up.

Smith and Jones an old fashioned act
Brains are something they lacked
With Neil Adams appointed
Smith proclaimed him anointed
In fact, it was a devilish pact

There was a man called Mickey Phelan
Who had a terrible feeling
He lay on his back
And opened his crack
And **** all over the Ipswich.

I´m sorry that so few seem in the mood for this, this year, although I understand if our current position and performances don´t exactly inspire the artistic juices, here´s hoping that there will soon be a few more optimistic straws to clutch at before Christmas Eve arrives, otherwise I´m afraid 2014 might be a ´no go´ limerick year.

With different nationals how do we feed'em
Hooiveld I'm sure likes his Edam
With haggis with mash
Pickled herring and goulash
Keep dishing it up 'cause we need'em.

Jerome and Hooper the pair
Our strike force that all the teams fear
When ever they score
The crowd it does roar
And the defense is left in despair.

For promotion our energies we must funnel
Until there is light in the tunnel
I have a good feeling
With Adams and Phelan
But all upcoming teams we must pummel.

Fellow canary fans lend me your ear
Let's give RBF something to cheer
Let not it be seen
That the year twenty fourteen
Is limerick less and bare.

This is the league, not a cup not a shield
And from winning it we must not yield
We must fight to the end
The defense must not bend
Until we're ahead of the field.

Josh and Jacob the brothers are twins
They are young and they play on the wings
Now their talent we must nurse
And let all other teams curse
At the way they help Norwich get wins

Teams again must be made to have fear
Coming out to the ground we hold dear
We must cheer all we can
And become the 12th man
So they all return home with points bare.

It's a longer story, but basically if I have trouble sleeping instead of counting sheep I'll make up limericks. It started years ago when I was first married I wanted to amuse my wife and make her laugh in bed and see where that would lead. Hopefully now I can remember them in the morning.
