We have a midfield that can mix it with all but the very best teams. I put on a different post that its possibly the best squad of midfield players we have had at the club. But for a dubious refereeing decision against Morison, the result may have been even more positive. Once the goals go in, and I'm sure they will, we can look forward to more exciting and fruitful times ahead. I feel sorry for Huddlestone, it was never a sending off. I'm sure sense will prevail and it will be overturned.
Agreed. I thought he had an awesome game. An "enforcers" presence in the middle of the park and a threat going forward (just like to see him give the side of his foot the benefit of the doubt when striking a football!) I remember in pre-season he was interviewed and said he wanted to break into the England setup again this season. I scoffed at the idea, but if he keeps performing like this he'll be difficult to ignore for selection.
WHL is a hard place to go, even more so after our last trip away from home. What we got today was a really good away performance, but considering where we were after Fulham, it was brilliant. There's a lot of promise starting to emerge from this side, take into account a couple of new signings ready to come in and we could be in for an exciting season.
Agreed. Thought Howson made a bit of a meal of it TBH. Was too late to effect the outcome of the game, especially after Morison's random backheel into touch deep inside Spurs half with only a minute or two to go.
Predictably, the BBC's football 'expert' as they call him predicted another defeat for us today saying Spurs would have too much for Norwich!
It gets even better with the impending return of Fox and Butterfield, and with Tettey's debut soon. Really hard to say who our weakest midfielder is! Last season it was Crofts but well, they are all brilliant
Well done Norwich... great result! I'm certain you guys will stay up with your team spirit and once you give Hughton some time, you'll be mid table for sure... And thanks for screwing over the spuds, from Chelsea FC Plus I thought you should have won in the end!
Don't we already hate Brighty? Might start a scrap with him on twitter... Also glad to hear that Me and Vaughan scored against 1p5wich (cos my name is basically Adam Clayton innit)
I gets better than that. Four predicitions made, three from BBC pundits and one from a long jumper. Three of the predictions were wrong, one was right. Can you guess who got it right...
Mark lawrenson was out guessed by a long jumper. The time has come lawro, **** off you old twat your a waste of ****ing money. ****er.
Saw the game 'live' and we should definitely have had a penalty - maybe one day we'll get the decsions go our way. Tremendous performance from the team - everyone played well and on another day, we could easily have won. SOOO pleased we've proved the 'doomomongers' wrong who were writing us off after a lacklustre display at Fulham. Bring on Wet Sham - and on Sky as well!!!
I am one of his doubters. And agree he looked really good. I hope he does prove me wrong but it was only 20 minutes or so. Brilliant performance as well, defensively we were absolutely quality. Bassong was brilliant as well as Garrido.
Given up on penalties now. Anyone that says big clubs don't get decisions is bollocks. The refs are so rubbish.
Agree Bassong and Garrido really do look quality. Hope we can sign Garrido up - can't see Tierney getting a look in to be honest. Any news on Carroll next week for West Ham? Heard he got a knock today? Fingers crossed as he will be a real hand ful..
Bassong does things which go unnoticed, kept Defoe in his pocket all day and really helped Barnett out when whenever he was a bit isolated. Also Garrido is top drawer, him and Russell Martin kept Gareth Bale relatively quiet. The only two things I would say is when opposition are on edge of box the midfielders should press quicker and sometimes we need to be a little more patient when we have the ball. That's not be being negative (before the negative police turn up), as I think we were excellent.
We do have a tendancy, as with last season, to allow opposition players to run at us and shoot from 20-30 yards out. Cost us quite a few times last season and once again today. Great performance though as I feel disappointed to draw when 3 hours ago I would have bit your hand off.
Just got back from the game (and a few celebratory bevvies afterwards). Fantastic performance from the lads. Would have been a scandal if we hadn't got anything out of it. My ratings Ruddy 7 (Couldn't do much with the goal (good strike from Dembele) everything else he did comfortably) Martin 8.5 (Excellent match, kept Bale quiet, and Lennon when he switched flanks, unlucky with another header against the bar) Barnett 7.5 (Partnered Bassong superbly again, made one big error in giving the ball away, but otherwise secure) Bassong 9(mom) (At the heart of a superb defence, looks a top signing) Garrido 8.5 (as Martin, kept Lennon quiet, looks top quality) Johnson 8.5 (Another terrific full energy game. Might have been man of the match apart from a couple of wasteful shots) Howson 7 (Very decent game, but was responsible for giving the ball away which led to the Spurs goal) Pilkington 8 (Gave Walker a torrid time down the left) Snodgrass 8.5 (Scored a superb goal, and forced Friedl into a brilliant save. Also gave Assou-Ekottu a torrid time) Holt 8 (With Jackson, scared the dickens out of two world-class defenders) Jackson 8 (see Holt) (sub) Morrison 8 (Thought he looked sharp and hungry) Boding well for the season. Hopefully we'll get out first 3 points againt Wet Sham.
