Pretty crap that we couldn't see it out after 93 minutes , we got away with blowing a 2 goal lead last round

Useful for getting fitness into some players legs but I never see much point in the cup competitions when we are fighting for promotion or to stay in the Premier League, as sad as that is. If we were mid-table in either league then I would probably be more interested in a cup run but currently I would rather prioritise the league.

How did Rashica perform? He really needs to step his game up or a season on the bench appears to be on the cards for him.

Players like Tomkinson, Springet and Gunn won't get many minutes.
In previous seasons going out of the cups usually involves our young players being sent out on loan .

I was thinking of going yesterday but with penalties it makes it difficult to catch the last Liverpool Street train back .

The fact that neither game in the Carabu Cup was televised made it a bit **** too.

Only seen the brief highlights, but he ran into good space when Sara chose to shoot instead, leading to Hugill's goal.

I think Gunn might usurp Krul soon

Gunn had a brilliant game and will be pushing Krul hard. Springett, who was rated at 7.3 on WhoScored, may well have secured his place in the squad on the basis of being able to cover at LB as well, a considerable bonus given our present circumstances. Tomkinson had a 6.8 rating and would seem to have secured the fourth CB slot. He'll be happy with that I'm sure.

This is a big positive really. Our club can't operate without bringing academy products through to perform and ultimately sell. We can't always rely on finding a Buendia on the cheap somewhere. We'll need that steady supply from the academy.

I’ve heard conflicting reports regarding Springetts performance…

Are these available to read or just various people's opinions, Suffolk. A WhoScored rating of 7.3 is very high (7.4 was our top score).

I can't remember to be honest and would be pleased if it wasn't the case!

I just recall someone saying he appeared to be caught out a few times and was heavily targeted in the game, which would be understandable

It would be surprising if he wasn't 'caught out occasionally' against a PL team, especially if they were targeting him. That makes the 7.3 rating based on his contributions even more impressive IMO. To put it into perspective Giannoulis has a rating of 6.58 so far this season.
