Boro looked pretty rubbish to be honest. They had a couple of alright spells but Watford didn't have to do a huge amount to contain them.
Anyone else think it's 2 from 3 for the autos now? Middlesbrough I can see dropping away now, and we have the chance to bury them at Carrow Road. Looks like it's going to come down to whoever blinks first and drops points.
You'd like to think so, but this season has taught us to be cautious, if maybe confidently cautious, or cautiously confident! Fair play to Bournemouth. They would have been under a lot of pressure at 2-0 down a few minutes before half-time in a must-win home game, but they came through it. They must be delighted tonight.
Great win and happy to be 2nd in the league, but that Johnson yellow card have taken the sting out of the win for me. He's our most inform player atm, the last thing we want is our best player not playing. But we've always said we have good depth on our squad, so I guess we will see just how good it is.
True, but we knew a player like him was likely to pick one up. With him missing away games at Leeds & Bolton it will be fascinating what solutions Neil comes up with. Is Vadis ready to come straight into the starting eleven in these crucial games? Let's hope he is.
Vadis or O'Neil are the realistic options I guess, it's the Tuesday game I'm most worried about as Tettey might not be able to manage two games in quick succession again. The alternative is Redmond I suppose, but that might be a touch gung-ho for an away game.
great win for us,we are hitting the grove at the right time, and i can see us and bournemouth finishing top two(not sure which way round though), boro dont look all that, and judging by their half empty stadium, dont deserve to get promotion.ipswich look to have fallen by the wayside(again)and probably watford are the greatest threat to us getting an auto spot. still think we are nailed on though!
Vadis gets forward a bit more and O'Neil is a touch more solid and defensive. Depends on how we're looking to set up really. Could bring in Redmond and use Dorrans on the left to balance its up, Wes behind Jerome or Hooper and two of Tettey, Howson, O'Neil and VOO. I can't see that being to significant a change.
i say lets be gung ho. fortune favours the brave and leeds are all over the place at the moment. we should be coming back from yorkshire with three points, lets set up offensivley and go for them
This is a great point to make, a midfield with out both would be tough going. I do quite like O'Neill however and perhaps there could be an option of all 3 starting to keep the centre tough. I have no idea how Bolton play so I'm sure that will influence AN's choice more than anything.
Just back from the game - a big up for the lower Barclay left for their hospitality. A typical game under AN as I saw it, not spectacular but a controlled, professional performance where the other team wasn't allowed to play and the result was never in doubt. It strikes me that those teams that do score against us only do so by feeding of scraps rather than by any of their own skill
That's very true and I think if you look at most of the goals we've conceded, they've been due to defensive errors rather than the other team's skill.
We were the only team in the top 8 to win both our games over Easter, except for Wolves. That being said we had the 2 easiest games. Still, we've been chipping away so well at the other teams over the last month or 2, this weekend feels like the culmination of all that work. Hopefully the lads keep it going against Bolton at the weekend. I can see us maybe drawing a couple of the rest of these games but I really don't see us losing any now!
