It was only 4 seasons ago that we finished level on points with Spurs.

Since that time we have been badly run with bad managerial appointments and we have suffered a relegation. We have been held back by the Tevez repayments to Sheffield Utd. We have been the subject of two takeovers in the last 5 years and quite frankly, the club has been a complete circus.

Things appear to be gradually improving now though.

Allardyce, despite his faults, has come in and stabilised us. I dont know how long he will stay with us. I would imagine he will still be with us when we move. With yesterday's stadium announcement and the potential for investment, bigger attendances and a higher profile, there is no reason why we can't catch up with, and even surpass Spurs over the next decade.

The only way I can see West Ham overtaking us in the next 10 years is if we hire Benitez and drop into midtable, or worse. You don't even get the new stadium for another 3 years for starters and I can't see the new stadium leading to a huge boost in revenue. Even if you were able to start spending bigger we're already better positioned in the short, medium and long term future. When West Ham get a £90mill training facility or start signing players that could get into our team I'll start worrying but until then, as I say, I can't see it happening unless we drop down to West Ham's level and if we did that West Ham finishing above us would be the least of my worries.

So imagine how it feels to support Chelsea ??? We have done all the things you have AND pissed away hundreds of millions as well !!!!!

I didn't think it was that harsh. I said similar to Liverpool fans on one of your threads about them finishing above us. I didn't think they would challenge for 4th so we'd have to drop down into midtable and if that happened being below them wouldn't be my concern as much as how the **** we'd dropped down so far.

They didn't take too kindly to that, surprisingly :D but whilst they've done a bit better than I'd expected they're still only as close to 4th as they are to 10th and we're currently challenging for the CL spots so I feel justified in what I said.

Again with the talk about West Ham catching us I felt that when they have the training facilities and players it'd be a better time to start talking up their chances and until then it's just weak speculation. Like Liverpool fans saying they could challenge for the top four when they hadn't even strung more than a couple of wins together, or claiming that when they got their big January spending done they could catch us all up.
