I think our strikers have actually been trying to put in a shift. Welbeck looked lively and Gyan tried his hardest to get into the game the other day IMO. They were just fed on less than scraps. Behind them they only had Steed, Mignolet and Bardsley with their heads screwed on but basic logic tells you that you aren't going to win a football game with a 1-1-2 system!
