Hopefully we'll stay up, then even more hopefully, Hughton will change hid mind-set of concentrating on stopping the opposition scoring, to actually trying to score a goal ourselves. And please, why does Hughton persist in playing Howson, he's bloody awful.
Like Dave, I can't understand the idea of 'not watching any more', while I accept that it is every fan's right. After 42 years of 'watching', I'd have to give up something of myself to stop watching now. It isn't about 'entertainment'for me, but competition at the highest level. It isn't going to be easy - it never has been! As for Drunky's question about possible solutions, what about playing KK on the left if Pilks is till injured to provide a more attacking 4-2-3-1 for Sunderland next week. The problem yesterday was that the 4-4-2 gave Southampton an extra player in midfield and they made the most of that.
And Saints were rubbish yesterday. There's a lot of rubbish around at the moment, and not all of it is on a football field.
Irregardless of the system, Howson was woeful yesterday, but I'll accept the system may be hindering him as it's a slightly unnatural role for him. Several times when we actually strung a few paces together, it'd go to him in the middle of the park, with plenty of space and options on, but he'd dally too long and be dispossessed. Perhaps with Wes more central to offer an easier, attacking pass he may have played better, but I counted at least 3 times where he lost the ball cheaply and Southampton created a good chance out of it. Maybe it's a case of bias as I was disappointed with him last week too.
