Can we finish third?

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Jonesey, Jan 14, 2014.

  1. So, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal will be the top three but you say us for fifth. Wonder who do you think will get fourth? <whistle>

anything can happen if we do well enough.

if for the rest of the year we get no injuries.

if players all are in form

If suarez scores 2 a game?

anything from 1 to 7 is possible. 3rd is only a few points away after all.... so is 6th.

    Random.
Predicting all the results and hence the final table is something we fans might do for a bit of fun, to try and make a serious article out of it is plain bollocks, imo.
Looking at the results they've given us, I see no rhyme or reason behind the guesses, and things go against expectations constantly anyway. (And they've said we'll only score 4 against Norwich <doh>)
I don't believe 3rd and 4th will end up with that high a points total.
I think that the best we're likely to get would be 77-79 ( I still live in hope of more, of course). Would that be enough for 3rd? Perhaps, depends on too many factors to guess accurately.

They think Arsenal will mess up? I dont. I think Arsenal will hold up.

I do think we can finish 3rd.

We have all the key head to heads at Anfield.

So 4th is not a realistic target then.

  6. If you think Arsenal will "hold up" and we'll get third, who do you think will drop down? Man City or Chelsea?

Exactly my thinking, I can see Arsenal staying up their but we won't get 3rd, I can't see either City, Chelsea or Arsenal dropping down that far, Arsenal are the most likely out of those three but I still can't see it, they're on fire atm.

If we outplay and outscore them at Anfield then they have a very difficult 2 months after that. We must break them.

its unlikely but you never give up hope it cant happen, esp when they are home games and it was only really Arsenal that deserved to beat us, the other 2 had very fortunate decisions in their fav.

That's true, still can't see it happening though.

    City
    Arsenal
    Chelsea
    Liverpool

That's what I think the table will look like at the end of the season, had us down to finish 5th at the start of the season but I feel we can finish 4th now, especially with the SAS partnership back <ok>

All the more reason for us to sort our defence. Incredible the amount of goals we have shipped in, and I'm sure the majority were easily avoidable.

the joke of a goal walters socred is a great example.

watch it..... gerrard calls it and lucas steps out, gerrard f's it up... johnson is asleep totally and we see skertl trying to get into the rb slot to cover, ball is passed in where walters is suddenly 1 on 1 with toure who tries to block but it goes though him and THEN mingolet f's it up too.

in short a litany of stupidity. 2 players get it right out of 4.. and no goal... all 4 f it up

This happens so often in the era of attacking wing backs (hate the term but can't think of a better one). They're upfield, struggling to get back, so your CB's get pulled over leaving a big hole either in the middle or on the opposite wing.
I know it has attacking benefits, but unless you have really fit, hard-working backs, and DM's that don't lose their concentration, it leaves you vulnerable.
Johnson has always been guilty of this, imo. To an extent, Kuyt's work-rate could help him out, but we're getting caught out so often these days.
I still believe this is a coaching issue as much as a personnel one, though.
