Improved tactical substitutions? We played considerably worse after we made the changes than before with Wes Hoolahan being especially ineffective. I also would of expected (just on the basis of past performances) a worst performance in this match under Hughton than we saw under Adams but the difference is that Hughton knew how to make the team play against the kind of opponents we have coming up. Does Adams?
I have to say I disagree. Fer looked shattered and Hoolahan actually looked like creating something, though it didn't come off. I thought Hoolahan played OK. What little was left of RvW's confidence well and truly evaporated when he fluffed that lay-off, so he needed to go as he became anonymous. Hooper offered some fresh legs. Murphy admittedly had little impact but at that stage it was the last throw of the dice. He dug out one shooting opportunity and though it never looked like going in it could have nestled in the top right. What a goal that would ahve been! The fact was for the first time in a while, I felt they were the right subs at the right times. Importantly, they did not disrupt our flow. I agree that the bigger risk in appointing Adams are the next four. But in a sense, Fulham was our key anyway. We've blown that and it doesn't really matter so much any more.
No they didn't. He resigned. However, you miss my point. I don't claim to know much about what goes on at Palace but as an outsider it seemed to me that even when they were 'in the ****', even when they were playing some pretty dreadful football, the supporters 'supported'. And I think they've got their reward.
