Unnecessary comment and baseless criticism, I think most would agree that the recruitment team has been excellent in getting in the players we have loved watching all season. Regarding TM, I was on the fence regarding his appointment but like most I have grown to absolutely love the way we play. Despite the injuries, this has been the most enjoyable season I can remember for the quality of the football and commitment of the players, and there's a big chunk of credit to him for that.
You presumably have inside information, know the team and how they earn their living and what, if any, bonuses are based upon, please enlighten us.
It’s the same for me when we got Mowbray I wasn’t sure what we were getting but he has proved to be a great addition to the club. KLD set the tone for the club and Mowbray is all part of that , it’s good to know the upper management seem to know what they are doing better than us . This is the first times for years where most people are happy with the direction of the club .90% of posts are positive and the board is a joy to read long may it continue
Was sceptical and underwhelmed by his appointment as probably wasn't really aware of how good he was coaching young players. I saw him as a mid table championship plodder and thought maybe a stop gap to keep us up. This along with the boro connection I really wasn't happy. However looking back he's been a great appointment in terms of results, performances and developing the youngsters. Under our circumstances I don't think the club could have realistically employed anyone better. I'm happily eating humble pie to be honest.
Didn't know enough about the bloke from a managerial pov however I think he has been superb. I also believe he will be aware they have a plan to replace him at a mutually convenient time. I would like to think he would get some role at the club even if it's in a temporary advisory role to the next coach/ manager/ head honcho or whatever he is called.
I didn't want him at all. However, he has surprised me. Has provided an excellent base and solid fundamentals for our youth to develop and improve. He has made some mistakes and is guilty of some tactical errors however, all managers do this and have their favourites etc. Given the injuries he has had and the lack of Jan replacements for 2 of the most senior players, you have to say he has performed above expectations. The league has surprised me too, a good few poor teams and with young and legs, you can simply outwork them. But yeah , done a good job overall Tony.
I didnt want him, thought he was a dinosaur, I hold my hands up though he has done a great job under difficult circumstances with injuries and poor recruitment at the top end of the pitch. I reckon he will be a little more vocal if he doesnt get the right tools for the job this summer though, he has been around long enough to know its a tough league and we will need depth and experience
I was having a read through some comments on Mowbray from his appointment through to the end of 2022 and I couldn't help but laugh at the minority that we're ridiculously negative. Here's a selection of them: .
Think the club would do well to find a way to keep hold of him long term. I reckon he’s relish a role as like Head of Adademy eventually. This isn’t me trying to get rid of him. I just mean when the time comes for him to move on, I hope there’s a way he can move on and stay here. And if he ends up getting to the stage where he wants to settle back in the north east and work with young players, he might end up being happy to do such a role and maybe even acting as a sounding board to both Speakman and KLD
12 months is a long time in football. I don't think we should get ahead of ourselves. There will come a point in the next 6, 12 or 18 months where we will question Mowbray or even want him out. Prefer to take things a season at a time without making bold gestures like offering him a job for life etc Whatever happens in the next 2-5 games then I hope the board back him in the summer and we start the next season in great shape
Yeh absolutely not saying job for life. Just that I think he’d be a really good character to have sticking around the place once his time is up as manager. Which as you say might even be later this year knowing football.
