Do you know what mate, when a was just a little kid, about 6 years old. My mam bought me a German Shepherd and I named him Prince, he was gorgeous, full pedigree and his parents had been crufts champions. Prince had a brilliant history and I went on to show him myself where he went on to win loads of medals and trophies. I was so f**king proud of him!

Later on Prince went to breed and I picked one of his puppies and brought him home with us, Prince was getting old at the time and often showed our new little pup how to be a champion just like him. Sadly not long after Prince passed away and it broke my heart, it really did, even to this day I still shed a tear. Our new little pup just couldn't pick it up unfortunately and after several attempts in the shows, it just wasn't for him and he never won a thing, it was the end of an era.

Now I just look at him and i'm always sad, but even now, when I think about Prince, it brings a smile to my face.

Is that what it feels like to be a Liverpool supporter?

I wonder what it must be like to be a Sunderland fan? Being managed by the biggest ******s ever to manage..Steve Bruce, Mick McCarthy and Peter Reid. Also not winning anything in their life-time must also be heart-breaking.

What's teamwork got to do with anything? Just because we can keep hold of our star players instead of losing them, doesn't mean we shouldn't make the most of them and be happy when they play well or dominate the scoring tally. <doh>

    Pointless point is pointless.

I truly hope you made that up; it at least shows effort, no flair or style but effort. Of course, if it's a true story you appear to be some strict dog daddy who stares in disappointment at a poor mutt because it doesn't stand straight or can't resist sniffing another dogs arse mid show. I hope he bites your nuts off.

Only thing you should be sad about is the misfortune of supporting the wrong coloured northern candy.....

My wife's half Siamese cat got part of his tail cut off when she slammed the door trying to stop him going out.

He is neutered but still mounts his brothers back and humps him.

Is that what it is like being a Sunderland fan?

I think you're right..it probably is. Especially when they were managed by Steve Bruce.

Very impressive and informative talk, he is obviously very astute tactically and not as rigid as reports seem to suggest. What comes over to me in this is that he is painfully aware he does not have the players at his disposal who are capable of playing the way he want`s to, he can`t wait for January for a chance to bring others in who can play the way he want`s.

Possibly, I think the owners infexability has made January a point.but, No matter how well(or not) we do this season I think next is the deciding factor. That's not me being cowardly that's me being realistic. Legends may be retired but I think we'll be a better team.

If he KNOWS he doesn't have the personnel to do the job the way he wants it done, and can't bring them in until (realistically) the end of the season, then you have to question the logic of persisting with a way of playing that CANNOT be attained.

Idealism is all very well, but you do need a dash of pragmatism to make a winner. Rafa knew when he came to the club that we didn't have the personnel to play the way he wanted us to. Come Istanbul, he tried to go with an unfit Kewell, to try and get the lads playing the way he wanted, but they couldn't pull it off with Harry carrying that injury. Pragmatism then took over, Hamann came on for Harry, and after a slight half time rejig, the team played the best way it could given the personnel.

Brendan should accept the shortcomings and allow the back line to look for Row Z when its appropriate, at least for this season...

Its a great point to be fair! BR says to quote, " if you cannot play football and your at Liverpool then you should'nt be here" which of course is technically correct, however by the same token if you cannot manage(more than 1 way) and your at Liverpool then you should'nt be here could equally be applied. Yes we respect you have a philosophy and a system, but you also have to be able to use the resources at your disposal to their strengths, at least until you can replace them!
