    I dont know how this works but..

    As someone pointed out on another thread St James' Park is basically the pitch. And i'm pretty sure the pitch is not owned by Ashley its owned by the Freemen of Newcastle?

    I may be wrong but surely with that in mind the pitch will remain as St James' Park regardless of the 'Arena' around it.

    I'm no lawyer and perhaps someone else can confirm?

    Almost certain the ground does belong to the Freemen of Newcastle but Ashley does own the Stadium.

    Even if Ashley couldn't legally change the name, what has been done has been done. And to take the matter further would surely be counter-productive.
