My apologies T O Spurcat, I had not ment to offend you, a fellow Spurs fan., but you seem to be a little prickly today. Look, I am pro Harry and I've defended him in the face of some stiff arguments in the past and no doubt in the future., He has been the best thing thats happened to this club in ages., Let just injoy the point today with a bit of light banter.
Fair enough BajanSpur. I have no problem with that I am a bit prickly this evening as I was at the Bridge today and I am still fuming at the seat I was given whcih was in the lower tier and it was like watching the game through a bloody letter box
You sound abit naive mate as while im as guilty as anyone as questioning arry and his team selections, he didnt really have much choice with his line up as what were his options? A) play a solid 4-5-1, try to keep it tight and know there is enough quality on the pitch that we will get chances Did that work? well its not arrys fault vdv missed two open goals, bale hit the post, walker fired wide, ade missed when through and gallas missed an easy header so in reality his "tactics" worked, we was just let down by poor finishing. Also remember, chelsea aren't mugs, if we played an open game, we would have lost as gallas an kaboul havent played together before and chelsea were getting some joy with long balls and quick passes.
Naive ?. I have simply asked a series of questions in order to spark debate., In your wisdom Boss, you have seen them as somewhat beneath you, but you've somehow added something to the thread. Thanks
That was 2 points dropped by Spurs today - Chelsea were there for the taking. They are in a real slump, softened by the fact they had a few easy games recently.
Instead of going on the defensive all the time, why don't you come out and offer some answers to the questions you posed in your article ?? I agree with The Boss, you come across as naive in your criticisms, so maybe best to clarify your own thoughts ....
That's a fair summary Boss I also have questioned Harry's tactics and some of his selections have been beyond baffling, especially when he has persisted with a formation that clearly causes disruption to our play. However, to have prepared for a game against the Chavs expecting them to be poor would be suicidal. No matter what season they are having, they are a club with top players and have put some decent results together lately. So his formation today was spot on and as the game progressed we were able to push on and create a few chances. We have got bugger all from Stamford Bridge for 22 years - admittedly with a few dodgy decisions along the way - and to come away from the fixture disappointed at our own inability to put away good chances and win the game says it all. A good performance which a goal would have made excellent.
Thank you T O Spurscat., My thoughts are:- a) Were these the right TACTICS etc., = YES b) Did Spurs give the Chevs too much respect etc., = No c) Yes. Now why could you not read the post in the manner it was ment ?. = Your answere was that you Spurscat had had a bad day at the game. Prickly business is now forgotten and all apologies given.
BajanSpur, they were not your thoughts. You created this article and posed them questions as you believed A) Arry isn't great at tactics B) We gave Chelsea too much respect C) See A Now don't try and change your opinion, i mean if you're going to be naive, stick to it, don't try and make out your something else just because people have challenged you.
No., Not even cigs., but hang-on your the great mind-reader, so you tell me, what do you think Doc. ?.
Of course, he's not completely tactically incompetent - he wouldn't have survived so long if he was. However, there's no doubt in my mind that it's not his strong point. He's naturally a risk taker. He likes to experiment and try new things. Again, however, he is then too slow, or too stubborn to accept that it's not working, and change things. We all know that he's a fantastic man manager - but tactics? Yes he can do them, but it's far from his strong point.
The run without loss last year is just one example that suggests he can do tactics. It is a fact that no manager gets it right everytime though, and they will have runs where they don't get it right at all. What Harry does know is the limitations of his squad players and why he only uses them when absolutely necessary. Tactics can change during the game, how you set up pre game, can get get blown out in the first 15mins, from what I've seen Harry gets his mid game alterations right more often than not.
We might have been set up cautiously but it was the right decision. Chelsea were well out of form last time we played them and had several injuries yet they raised their game for us and it'd have been foolish not to expect the same again. In the end we played well and got a decent result so I'm happy Arsenal game aside, we've played well during this bad run. The main difference I see between the team now and the team from the first half of the season is that we're slower to start, it was a symptom we suffered from at the end of last season too. Perhaps tiredness is the problem or maybe it's a lack of concentration from the players. We're just leaving ourselves too much to recover from and with a bit of bad luck or not being clinical enough we end up with less than we deserve from a game, which earlier in the season we might've won.
