the Guardian has us preparing a £7M bid for Campbell. Transfer Rumours they are also quoting Brighton offering £4M for Charlie Austin. At those prices and with their track records I know which one I would prefer (and he hasn't played for us before).
It doesn't look like O'Neil is any hurry to see Campbell gone... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11714/8340831?
You're probably right, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a bit of SB gamesmanship going on here aswell and it also suits the Allams to be seen as being very generous following last January's debacle. I think it's part of Bruce's tactics in the transfer market to send out a loud message that he will splash the cash for promotion. It gives target players confidence that we are ambitious, but it is only the bait on the hook, when negotiations start properly he will pay as little as possible. The Prozzy deal was a good example of using a marquee signing (broadcast as £2.6m instead of undisclosed) to enthuse other players. We probably got Aluko on the back of it and possibly Elmo and Quinn too. The January window is like mating season in the forest - the managers at the top puff out their chests and strut around displaying their huge cheque books to seduce the timid litle strikers.
here we go again, he's coming, he's not coming, he wants to come, he doesn't want to come... either he comes and plays as he did when he was here during the promotion season or he doesn't come at all, I just wish draw a line under this once and for all
