It seems that as far as Mclean and Stewart are concerned, we're just happy to get them off the wage bill.
I just wonder what Papa Allam is thinking now, did the leaving of NP and the way he left cloud his business sense, and in hind sight would we have sold at that time if the parting had not been so acrimonious?
It was the right decision at the time for the club as a whole, so it remains the right decision now, even if it has cost us a few quid.
To have sold Stewart to Leicester at that time would have sent out all the wrong signals to the fans. We have moved on and his presence now and his lack of commitment shown during his loaning out shows that he is now just a drain on the wage bill.
In the PL now £1.5m is peanuts. As you say we have moved on BIG TIME and Stewart has fallen backwards BIG TIME.
It probably was, but I was just posing the question, whether Papa Allam might feel he let his heart rule is brain on this occasion. I think it would, but if things had turned out as they have, and he had gone to Lesta and failed, then we would be thinking it was the best thing to have happen, and it was the right decision. As with Nick Barmby, like many I felt it was a harsh decision to get rid of him, and at that time gave the wrong signal to us fans, but as has turned out it was the right decision. You are right, but in business terms just because you are having a good year this year, does mean you should not try to maximise the revenue wherever possible. As it is I agree it was the right decision, and to now get him off the wage bill is the right thing to do for all parties concerned, as well as CS own career.
If we're letting Stewart leave on a free, for our sake I hope we include a "% of next transfer fee" clause in the deal.
anyone who signs Stewart should pick up Jay Simpson on a FAT & I reckon at Championship level they'd hit it off again..
Where is Jay? Surely he's got a club but I havent heard anything. Hope he gets sorted, he's a really nice lad.
I think Stewart could go one of two ways, he could fade into mediocrity and spend the rest of his playing days in the lower leagues, or he could embrace his potential and go onto greater things. As we saw for ableit a short period, he does have a lot of potential, whether he can re-unlock it is a different question. Independent of that, I think we should put in the clause just in case he does ressurect his career at which ever club he decides to join.
In Stewarts case who cares anymore. Stewart deserves all that he is getting for being such a pussy now. My worry is for Mclean as he could have done a good job for us in cup matches and off the bench. But he has not been coached well enough of late. His lack of goals are his problem as we all know but that can be worked on. Hope that Mclean gets the move to Barnsley and he can re-ignite his playing career. Very surprised that Peterboro did not come back for him like. Very true John. If the move to Charlton ends in failure then CS will do well to get a game for a non league team. Why not ? Nothing to lose on our part at all. You just never know what will happen. Hardly a risk though is it. If we get anything then its more than a brucie bonus. Agreed. Worth a punt for a club like Charlton. Maybe Gillingham will take a chance on Jat Simpson if not C.A. He wont. Jay Simpson will get a club sooner or later.
