I like Marti a lot but personally am disappointed in what i've see so far this season.

After the achievements at the end of last season, i really expected him and his back-room staff to have worked the squad hard in the summer and had them ready and in tip-top condition right from the get-go this term.

The performances so far fitness-wise are rather concerning. I've read elsewhere that the conditioning team like to start slow and build to a strong finish fitness-wise.

This is complete twaddle as professional footballers should be at peak condition to be able to compete fully from game 1.

Who cares abut finishing strong if you've already thrown away 20 odd possible points through ineptitude?

Obviously all these new players will take time to bed in, so their fitness and performances should improve gradually but whats gone on with the players that were here all summer?

Also, as a side note. Santos, Varane, Saito and Dembele all sound like they have some skill on the ball but what worries me is that they all look rather lightweight.

My mate, a Celtic supporter said yesterday that dembele is a skilled player but is a man stuck inside a 10-year olds body.

Will all these foreign, lightweight newcomers be able to hold their own in the rough and tumble championship?

Certainly hope so!
That tiny young kid Barton for Cambridge was the best player on the park.

Frey looked ****ed on 60 minutes. We were blowing out of our arses because we couldn't look after the ball aswell as Cambridge did. I was very surprised about our lack of possession, even more surprised that Smyth didn't balloon his goal over the bar! It's a win, it's a learning curve. Feel for Celar, it's impossible to judge him up to date as he generally is the only player in the oppositions half, left totally isolated.

In truth, no idea.
Are they such babies that they need to be told what to do 24/7?

It's got to be down to the manager to make sure his players are fit, surely?

Why do you not like the messiah

I don't dislike him, I'm just baffled by the unquestioning devotion that he seems to be afforded.

Nothing can ever be his fault, it seems.

There is no excuse for the fitness. Surely it's every professional footballers duty to the club, their team mates and, indeed, themselves to keep themselves in best possible shape?

Some of them have been having too relaxed a summer.

We did this deliberately last season though, not sure I really agree with starting the season undercooked but it paid huge dividends in the latter part of last season.

Whether we're taking the same approach again I'm not sure, us plebs aren't allowed to know such things now, but it certainly looks like it.

We really need to look at the game management from last night. There were times we needed to take the heat out the game and keep the ball. On a few occasions we lumped the ball up the other end when we could have played it back to the keeper and kept possession.
