I dont think money will motivate Cambiasso. Hes on a decent wage here and will be again if he signs again. We will be in our 2nd season allowing us to spend abit more
Cambiasso playing 2nd fiddle to Carrick? You must be joking. He wants first team football and being here has gave him freedom he never had at Inter or Real Madrid where he was expected to win possestion and start up attacks. Here he can do what he wants
... ... oh stop it ed your killing me ... my turn .... why don't we try and get Lionel Messi as cover for Knocky?!!!!! .. who's next?
My mates grandfather had a budgie that escaped its cage, Flew over the KP and overheard a conversation between NP and Neymar. NP offered Neymar a contract as backup to Nugent. Neymar declined cos he knew he would never get a game.
What? The point im making is that he is very good and could be playing at a much higher level yet there have oddly been no rumours for an out-of-contract top performer. I dont understand the responses there at all.
... we got the point ed - but a player of Cambiasso;s class will not go anywhere as 'cover' ... and certainly not for someone as average (in world terms) as Michael Carrick - Esteban will simply retire when he feels he can't play regularly anymore - he doesn't need the money particularly - he's playing for the new challenge and the fact that he is still enjoying mixing it with the best - I'd be both surprised and somewhat disappointed if he was ever content to bench warm ... Andrea Pirlo similarly ....
ok well the point was that i was suprised that no one was even been spoke about to be interested in him, given how vocal/'leaky' his agent was in the summer. Im not saying that he would want to go just more the suprise that no one has been linked given his contact situation.
.... I thought at the time, and even more so now, that we were incredibly fortunate to sign him ... and that his age might have worked in our favour in deterring other suitors ... look what Fabregas has done for Chelsea this season and, to a lesser extent, Lampard at Man City ... as the old adage goes 'form is temporary, class is permanent' .... whilst certainly at a different level I can recall us signing Eddie Kelly, Lawrie Cunningham, Garry Parker and, more apposite, Roberto Mancini, when they were thought to be somewhat past it ... all were a joy to watch ... shame about the one that got away ... Johann Cryuff
This season's not even finished yet Ed, plenty of time for other clubs to be linked with him over the summer. I hope our end of season form will convince him we won't be in a relegation battle again next season and he'll stay. As FF said, I think he also knows he'll get first team football with us; he doesn't want to end up like Lampard at Man City being used as a super sub.
And i agree, but now is the rumour mill time, particuarly for our of contract players, and he seems to have luckily not even had a half-hearted attempt at being linked elsewhere.
I would love to see Cambiasso stay for another season as a player, premiership or championship, and hopefully then become part of the management team. He's probably got one last move left in him - America? - and I guess his agent will push for that. I think it will all depend on what he actually wants for himself going forward. Whatever the outcome he is certainly one of the best and most professional players I have seen in a Leicester shirt.
I think it will like last summer, Cambiassos team will take a long look at their options before agreeing anything with us, dont expect him to re-sign straight away. Maybe we could encorage him by giving him every award at the end of season bash, even the young POTY
