Seems to be doing alright up there Dean Marney, good championship player the lad and got plenty of running in him, expecting him to score tomorrow would be typical.
Marney was decent enough for us in the Championship; we shouldn't dismiss him just because he was out of his depth in the Prem. However, the Burnley fans seem to say much the same as we did - loads of effort and running with no end product.
I think Marney played a big part in our promotion to the PL, scored a few goals, plenty of assists, was brilliant at putting a set piece in.
10 assists in 78 games while he was with us in the Championship. More surprising, is that he had 7 assists for us in his 47 Premier League games.
Why is it surprising? He was a fukin great player for us. Lots made of his lack of goals in the prem, christ we had forwards who didnt score in the prem. I know you didnt like him when you met him but playing wise he was excellent for us, but got none of the credit that Ash got.
It's surprising that he got more assists in the Premier League than the Championship, when we scored about half the amount of goals.
who'd have thought, 2 seasons ago that Dean Marney would be getting regular games in the same team while the future superstar of Hull City couldn't even earn a place on the bench..
Did marney score in the 3-2 win against Everton, or am I dreaming? That was a great game, reminiscent of the brum game last weekend.
Yeah he got the third. Marney's celebration was right in front of me and it looked like he was actually crying with relief. That game, (along with the Man City matches) really was one of very few highlights in our 2nd PL season.
