The panel would be in stitches - I think he could be the first comedian to win the whole thing with his material.
Exactly my point. When faced with logic, you resort to insults. Same every time. You demand the right to debate and an opinion, but you want to deny it to others.
Oh go on then - give us the explanation as to why Tony Adams would be ripped apart by today's teams... I'm up for a good laugh.
I don't think he had the pace or the one on one foot skills to play the more man-to-man type defenses we see today. I think given the lack of contact allowed by referees to defenders his outstanding physical play would be redundant. Now you can ridicule me, but am I not entitled to that opinion?
Let's keep this about football and drop the childish insults. Edit: Any comments that are designed to provoke other users will be deleted.
Once again, I am not objecting to the opinion, just the assumption that their opinion is correct. By the way, your comment is offensive, using disabilities as an insult is immature and tasteless
You are entitled to that opinion. Mine is that it is a joke. You might like to refer to some of the strikers who play in the PL if you think there is no contact. Adams also played against players with pace and still came out as one of the greatest defenders our country has ever seen. By the way he only retired 10 years ago. I only ever saw him once embarrassed by a player - Marco Van Basten. Finally, i can think of no CB pairing in world football who play man to man today - except for set pieces. I would take Adams over anyone today to win a header from a set play. Just think your argument is totally flawed in every regard.
If this is true I'd be very happy. I'm not a fan of a DM but seeing as we play football a certain way we need a defensive screen who will be tough tackling and disciplined.
Seems more than a rumour now - talk of £14m fee, and a 4 year deal. Could spell the end of Song, who is being chased by Inter Milan. Wishere - M'Vila - Arteta Wilshere - M'Vila - Rosicky two possible midfield 3's. I dont see a place for Song if M'Vila comes - apart from as a utility player (CB and midfield cover)
I think we can switch our play to accomodate the DM role. We did it really well with Vieira, Gilberto, Flamini and most of our recent successes came with playing a DM in the middle. We've been set up this season with Frimpong in the DM role, so it's a formation that we can play. I think the gaping holes in our midfield are screaming out for a shielding DM in some games. The game against Norwich was a brutal example of how easily we are cut open at times.
I think we'd keep Song, unless Inter made us a decent offer. He's not a DM, so it wouldn't be a like for like swap. If anything, I think this could be Frimpong who loses out.
But would Song sit on the bench? He's not going to get in ahead of Wilshere, Rosicky, or Arteta. I think it is certainly the end for Ramsey though - he'll be a 7th or 8th choice if he stays.
Speaking of Britain's Got Talent - has anyone seen this ?? Bloody hilarious.
One of the things we've bemoaned for ages though is our lack of depth. As soon as a player gets injured, there's never decent enough cover - and it's cost us big time. I think there are plenty of games in a season 50+ , for Song to get enough games.
We need competition for places, let them all battle it out - Frimpong, Song and M'Villa are battling for the same place because I think Arteta and Wilshere are certs to start next season, Rosicky will battle Ramsey, Oxo and Walcott will battle, RVP (hopefully) and Pod will be starters. To be honest. Coquelin will no doubt cover Sagna until he recovers from injury so at least he won't be losing out .. for now. We don't want to lose our promising youth but at the same time we need to address our obvious problems.
Never seen Mvilla. If he the holding midfeilder we need then he wont be competing with song as song is incapable of playing that role.
That's always been the difficult balance - trying to bring through our promising youth players, whilst ensuring that we don't leave obvious gaps in quality where it's needed. Personally I think Frimpong could have a big future at Arsenal, but his injuries are a worry and it's come to the time where we can't sit back and wait for him to come good. I hope he pushes for a starting place, but I want to see M'Vila playing DM next season
