But Leon if someone has got banned for being a pain in the arse (some of my comments must get like that sometimes, even had TWF calling me a moron once) and they re-register then surely they will go on being a pain in the arse and keep getting banned, so surely after a time they must give up as they are wasting the mods time, they're wasting their own time and their wasting the board's time (a phrase my Maths teacher used to use if she had worked out that someone had copied someone's work - how she did it, no one knew)
I don't know if it's been officially announced yet, but in the new year this forum will be re-named 'Salem not606'. All posters who are not opposed to the name change will be asked to add the letters IATPBM after their user name - This of course stands for 'I am Tubby, please ban me.' While all rabid anti - name change posters will be asked to identify themselves with a pitch fork on their avatar. I thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter and wish you a Merry Christmas and a successful new year's witch hunting.
I agree. To be banned from the site and then to keep registering is a sad indictment on the individual concerned and I would fear for the state of their actual life. Unless there is some genuine comedic value of course in re-registering. Unfortunately, with regard to the aforementioned posters (Tubby et al.) there is no comedic value. Same with multi-posting. If it’s being done for comedy (and it is funny) then fairplay, if it’s been used to back up the creator in some way, then it is incredibly sad. That said, I am (in the vast majority of cases) still against attacking posters with harsh bannings.
I do have a thing about wanting to feel useful, but that's pretty much restricted to my friends. It's funny because most of them know how far I'm prepared to go to help people, but I get really touchy about making sure people don't know when I'm helping someone because it feels like I'm not doing it for the right reasons if people know I'm doing it. It's an odd one for me, I've got a bit of an OCD thing about how things work and I like as much detail as possible. It lets me test my analytical skills in different situations and just generally take skills from one area to another. I've got a pretty good record of looking at a situations and predicting the unexpected (in the late 90s I predicted the credit crunch and was only a year off with when it would start, a month before the last election I predicted the Tory and Labour seats to within 15-20 of the actual figures and said it would result in a Tory/LD coalition despite everyone in the media predicting random results and saying that the LDs would rather be in coalition with Labour if it came to it). On here it's usually tactical assessments that show it. In terms of modding it's more about learning how the site does things, there's nothing to predict but I like understanding what you can do and what you can't do. As a mod I get to see more of how things work and that lets me take things that are used to do one thing and apply them to something else. There's been at least one situation on here recently where I've told the supermods how to find information they wanted, because even with all their extra tools I was still the only one able to find the screen they wanted as there's not a single link to it anywhere on the site. The whole problem solving side of it is good for me for work as well, we take van loads of equipment out to jobs and once we're there we have to make it work whatever happens or the events our clients are paying thousands of pounds for us to provide are knackered. It's more that it inconveniences them more than it inconveniences us. You should see some of the other forums on here for it though. Brb has got some of them so well tracked because they do it so regularly he's got them banned before they even finish their registration, but the site lets them carry on filling in the forms before it tells them the account can't be used.
Thanks for the detailed response – it’s appreciated. Very interested to read about your political and economic analysis; with particular regard to the your pre-election prediction of the coalition. What data/sources did you analyse to conclude that there would be a Con/Lib coalition? Also, it would be remiss to not take this opportunity to ask you if you have any other predictions for the coming year and beyond?
Well judging by this thread I think you're probably over-qualified. Do you fancy the title of Witchsmeller Pursuivant instead? BTW I heard Happy recently gave birth to a poodle and I of course have a horse called Beelzebubbles!!!
Poll results (but thinking about where the swings were going to be rather than just saying there'd been one as the commentators seemed to be doing). Policies that were being discussed and general strategies towards removing the deficit from the 3 main parties, and having established there wouldn't be a minority looking at whether the LDs would rather be seen to support the biggest party in Parliament who also had similar policies, or whether they'd rather support the smaller of the two big parties, who'd just not just lost their overall majority but were no longer the winners of the popular vote either.
Your approach makes sense (as proved). Also, I do not recall anyone predicting a Lib/Con coalition (I certainly didn’t). Did you commit these findings to any form of publication pre election?
Unfortunately I only made that prediction verbally to people and in a discussion on facebook. The economic one though I guess you could use my bank statements from when I was about 14 onwards, they show I acted to build up as much cash as possible ready to capitalise when the **** hit the fan.
