I thought it was nice to see the ball from Nicky Bailey's penalty again. Thanks to the Red Devils for bringing it back.
Give them all a 34p flag, dont let them have cheap season tickets........The main celebration was our fantasic team lifting the trophy, and us being able to thank THEM,as well as them thanking US!....I enjoyed the day,but appreciate you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time!....But then i guess some people are just never happy. Is it all old women on this site or just me?.
No Graham, from what I could see the women really enjoyed it and as you say the main event was winning the game and the trophy celebration but then that's never good enough for the libertarian types on this board.
Nice to see you post again IA I see that the Massive Club are having a civic reception for their team? Bit of an over-reaction me thinks! Did they have a civic wake when they were relegated? After all they didn't win the league with a record equalling number of points did they?
I saw that too and thought 'Tin Pot'. Fair play to them all the same, excellent decision in changing the manager, and with that run of form, can't begrudge it them. Thanks Tweaks and AllHell. Got stuck in Carlisle...
we are champions equal joint top points no playoff's to go through entertainment on the pitch and still people winge winge winge, why cant you all be positive were up and looking forward to championship footie next season
Yes the celebrations could have gone slightly smoother, but when people are not where they are supposed to be and emotions are running you try doing it.
For the most part, I thought Saturday's festivities were bloomin' awful. Dave Berry is/was a pointless twerp. The Korean opera singer was dire. The lap of honour was a non-event. I had a run-in with the Red Devil's and their wives. I had a run-in with a steward who was trying to stop me taking photos from the media seats in the West Upper. But I did love seeing/hearing Curbs, Rufus and Victoria Stanyon. The Smurfs were a credit to Hartlepool and I did appreciate their firm ratio structure of bringing only one Papa Smurf. Were you playing Gargamel, Typical? All in all, it was a good day. A great day for Charlton Athletic Football Club. A bad day for the Charlton Athletic Events Committee.
In hindsight I guess it was pretty poor, but I enjoyed it at the time. Pro's: -The opera singers were decent -The Red Devils were brilliant entertainment -Naturally, it was wonderful to see the cup being lifted -Was great SEEING Rufus and Curbs again -The ground looked impressive with 'The Valley' in coloured paper -CP's speech was brilliant Con's -Curb's didn't seem to know what to say, pretty much just seemed to say 'Charlton have done pretty well this season...mumble mumble...' -Poorly organised, CP should have done his speech whilst they were building the stage -Seemed some players just invited everybody they know onto the pitch. 'Why was I applauding Danny Haynes' half-brothers ex-wifes next door neighbour?' -Programmes had sold out half an hour before bloody kick off -Would have liked to have got on the pitch to thank them all in person.
Well said Emily......You know men cant stop moaning can they?....Good job Sir Chris picks the team and not any of them.
I have been told that since last summer it is actually Chrissy's misses who picks the team and tactics
