Valley - I can't argue/disagree with much of what you have written.

However, it is worth pointing out that Joel Barnett was a Labour MP, who as Chief Secretary to the Treasury created what we know as the "Barnett Formula".

Additionally, how many years were Labour the party of Government (under Blair then Brown) and they did nothing to correct the underfunding to Wales?

As you say, both the main parties are a waste of space!

Fully agree. Although Plaid Cymru are a waste of space too (even though I always vote them), we should all vote them as given the odds on certainty it will be a hung Parliament, Plaid could push for a far greater deal for Wakes at the negotiating table in May.

"It's been widely reported that wages have fallen in real terms by £1600 - fact."

    It's a fact it's been widely reported.<laugh>

As for the suggestion I'm a Tory boy, well you really don't know me. I'm working class and proud of it. In fact I've often voted Labour in my time but will never do so again. I just look at that facts and decide then on policy. Hard to argue with this Government's record clearing up the god awful mess left by Labour. Fastest growing economy in the world vs unmitigated disaster. I really can't understand how Milliband and his bunch of proven failures are even close.

But nobody is going to be dissuaded or persuaded by these debates that's for sure. Too many entrenched views it seems to me.

What have they cleared up? Outside the South East, every other regional economy is struggling, the employment figures are a joke because there are now hundreds of thousands/millions either on 0 hour contracts or working more than one part time job, the NHS in England is on its knees, the education system is beyond a joke in England, wages have fallen by more than £1500 a year, more people have been forced to turn to food banks, and Cameron has borrowed £500 billion, more than Labour borrowed.
So, I'll ask again, other than giving his bum chums a £100,000 tax cut and concentrated on the economy in the South East, what have they done for the other 99% of us?

    how about;

    - freezing petrol tax hikes during the parliament
    - increasing the tax threshold for low income earners to 10k
    - freeing up pension rules and reducing the influence of annuity companies
    - (finally >>> way too late) placing restrictions on legalized loan sharks like Wonga
    - not taking us into several wars willy nilly (except some limited involvement in Libya) - Labour would have been into Syria before Miliband could check with Gromit where his dentures were
    - stabilizing the economy and bring the deficit down - yes not by the target but still progress given the state of our and the world economy

its been stated many times before by independent sources - that's its fallacy about raising tax against the high income earners since the actual tax revenue falls as they find ways around it, or simply move out of the country.

I'm not best positioned to argue on immigration, NHS, education, etc as they are areas I have not paid such close attention to - but the above items have a direct impact on me personally, and certainly improved my tax position and view of the government.

All I ever recall from labour in the 00s was tax increases, arrogant politicians, inept policies and a war hungry party.

All my family are labour supporters - but I simply cannot forgive them for what they done when Blair came into office, and how GB continued their legacy.

I don't believe any of the parties are particularly brilliant - but if I could choose the parliament for the next 5 years - it would be a continuation of the last 5 years - not a Tory majority - but another coalition with the lib dems.

⬆︎What he said - except a coalition with UKIP to ensure we get the vote on Europe. <applause>

As for being brainwashed, are any of you seriously suggesting that unemployment isn't in fact well down? Or that the number of people in employment is now at record levels? Or that we aren't in fact experiencing the fastest growth in the western world?

    Don't tell me - It's a conspiracy involving the IMF. <laugh>

Whether you are pro or anti Tory the only alternative is a Labour government and that doesn't bear thinking about.

    1. A Lib Dems policy, Tory policy was to increase VAT and give the rich a £100,000 tax cut.
    2. Ed Milliband blocked Western involvement in Syria after huge pressure from both Cameron and Obama.
    3. Deficit might be down, but borrowing has increased to a level not seen before, thus national debt has increased significantly. Debt is significantly higher than when Brown left office.

Like I said, 0 hour contracts, record levels of people in more than one part time job, and the fastest growing economy is in South East of England.
