...which would mean you think Calamity is a good appointment? Despite the fact it beggars belief that the fanny gets an appointment anywhere?

Wim Jansen's nickname is "stakebake"? I always thought it was "mop in a sleeping bag"?

I don't think it matters. If the assistant manager position was of any real consequence the SFA would decide who got the job

But its Scotland, so we can't end the day without some negativity

Ah, that old one, did that not start at about 5 in a row? And was subsequently altered every year? Yeah, cool story bro!

Oh yes, was there not one featuring Paulo Di Canio? Think that got the years changed too.

Ps. His nickname was never that, that was just a wee song that was sung at the time. Another mindy fail

Who do you lot suggest gets the role?

McGhee has worked with Strachan at two seperate clubs and they've known each other since their playing days. Makes sense to me.

McGhee's managerial record is better than most managers W338 D223 L327 AND that's when he's mostly taken over teams who were languishing at the time (Millwall, Wolves, Motherwell...)

He did a really good job at Reading, Millwall and Motherwell but ****ed up at Aberdeen and Bristol Rovers.

Besides, does someone's record as a manager reflect on their ability to be a coach?

    I'm thinking not.

You would accept Archie Knox as a coach/assistant - he's done it at the highest level but I doubt I'd let him take charge of a team as a basic grasp of spoken English is usually a pre-requisite.

    I'm quite happy.

    Who do you all suggest?

Coyle would've been a good shout.

Basically, all that's available that I can think of would've been McGhee, Coyle or Jimmy Itchybaws.

Coyle would've been a decent shout, actually (his win %age is about 10% higher than McGhee's).

The only drawback would be I don't think he's ever worked with Strachan before.

It does smack a bit of nepotism but I don't think McGhee will do too badly.

No doubt Sevco fans will give Scotland their usual full support. The good thing from
WGS point of view he will be in the job for about five years before the loyalist media
start clamouring for players from the Govan club to be picked. It will be then that
these Hun like fans will start abusing Scottish players who are playing in the positions
that these clowns think a Sevco player should be in.

I'm loathe to give Super's post an answer but that has already started.

The papers I read this morning all included stuff about never-capped Templeton being picked for the side <doh>

Wasn't good enough when he was in the SPL but he's good enough now, somehow <mongs>

I don't think Strachan will rule anyone out because they play for Rangers - not at all.

At the moment, though, Alexander might be in with a shout (there's better ahead of him), McCulloch could still do a job (I think he's retired internationally, though), Ian Black shouldn't be allowed on any sort of football field much less an international one and wee Templeton will be good enough one day but I haven't seen enough of him this season to say whether he deserves it on current form or not.

    Stop reading the meeja.

I largely agree with what you said (with the exception that I canny mind Mcculloch saying he'd retired from international fitba - but then again we know my memory is none too reliable)

    Dunno about that.

McGhee is a proven flop. McCoist hisny proven that yet. Give him time though.

Also, McCoist has a long way to go to match the likes of Calamity's post match speeches at Aberdeen.
