I'd go for Cairney and Evans. Simply because Evans can get around the pitch much faster and more consistently. I think with playing 4-4-2, this is the perfect combo. Look at Man U, they have Fletcher (the one who will do all the running) and Carrick (who is more the creative man in the middle and makes sure it gets out to the wingers) Alternatively, put Anderson in for Fletcher and Giggs in for Carrick and it is the same combo. I know they are a much better team, but they are the only team that really plays the 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 succesfully. We just don't have that link man between striker and attack unless Simpson is going to be the one that comes abit deeper.
I'd say Cairney's pretty much a given come Friday. No way could any manager leave him out after the pre season he's had. I'd go for McKenna for the experience and the fact he's got a bit of bite in him.
Thats your opinion and you obviously did not watch them as much as i did. They did play 3 at the back when Puyol was out injured in La Liga games. The point i was making was that its ok to play 3 at the back IF you have a defensive midfielder in there.
I believe McKenna and Evans is an absolute cert. TC has had a cracking pre-season but NP will go for the solid, energetic, hard working base in midfield. It's as sure as Chris Lee is sh1te.
