if cabaye benny and lord tiote play to their full ability i dont see why we cant be challenging for 4th i know exceedingly deluded but i feel at full strength are 1st team is on a par with most teams bar chelsea and the manchesters

We're a striker and a LB/RB short of that and that's not including squad depth <ok>

First time I saw Cabaye live yesterday, pure class.

Performance of the weekend by an individual for me.

He totally controlled the game yesterday. Was baffling how Warnock (granted, he had a good game) was chosen over Cabaye for MoM.

Bet he won't even make it into Garth Crooks team of the week. Warnock looked okay, but only because Obertan was unwilling to run at him for much of the match.

He's good enough to play for any team in the league.

What a signing , can't believe we got him for just 4.3m!

Looked quality, is getting adjusted to the league.

Capable of building the partnership with Tiote we all hoped for!

Been very impressed with him so far and the frightening thing is I have a feeling he may get even better.

He will get better. He was the best midfielder in France last year by a mile, and Lille finished first. He's champions league quality for any side

    Pardew thinks so too:

"I was really buoyed by our performance," said the Newcastle manager Alan Pardew.
"You don't expect to control a game here like we did.

If I had travelled down with the Toon Army, I would have been very pleased with
what I'd seen. We looked a threat all game and Cabaye was beautiful today."

    lol nice!

With the way the contenders are this year, I'd say our goalie, our cb pairing and the midfield trio of cabaye, tiote and Ben arfa are good enough.

Everyone else is unfortunately lacking too much to get anywhere near that high. Still though, very few teams can claim they have such a spine of high quality and highly effective players.

I think our best 11 could perhaps be good enough for 7th at best, however if we get injuries we could end up anywhere as far down at 12th easily

On a par with or better than Ben Arfa v Everton? Leaning towards better than. The quick free kick at 1:22 was such good vision and ability, just a shame he still doesn't have that goal.

Cabaye does look a little like Ted Bundy and it seems has the same killer instinct.

I'm trying to think of a better individual performance since we came back up. Struggling.
