Have to say that whilst I'll be gutted to see him go if he does go in January rather than the end of the season it won't really affect our season.

We're certain to finish 9th at worst and at best (although still unlikely even with Cabaye, Cabella and De Jong) we could finish 5th. If ever he were to leave mid season this is definitely the season for it. I do still think he'll go in the summer though mainly due to Cabaye himself and not the club.

Why leave when you're in the form of your life and certain to start at the world cup?

If he goes to PSG then Blanc mentioned over the weekend that no player is certain of their place, even new signings. It's just not worth the risk for Cabaye, especially as Deschamps has already shown him that he must be playing regular football to retain his place with the national team.

SSN - PSG are now odds-on (1/2) to sign Yohan Cabaye following reports of a €26m bid from the Ligue 1 leaders: sky.me/LGvOY9 #NUFC #PSG

I know betting odds don't necessarily mean anything, but this is starting to look a little ominous. Might just be the bookies reacting to people placing bets, rather than any insider knowledge of a genuine deal. But still...

To be fair I'm sure they could find a way to fund the buy out of his contract (whether that be by a combination of loans, his healthy bank balance, third party intervention or any other means) The bigger issue is surely the deal that took the brazilian kid from Shaktar Donetsk. Did they not end up getting 11m for him anyway? I'm pretty sure the effect of the Webster ruling has been neutered somewhat (I could be wrong). I wouldn't be surprised to find the story on Webster has come from some Man U supporting hack scaremongering.

The reality is Cabaye is going and it'll either be this window or next. We'll get a large amount of money for him. I think it'll be sooner rather than later. I'm only surprised that it is PSG as he seemed to want to make it here. Maybe he is longing for the lure of home. And a bundle of money. Fair play, PSG are massive now and going places. He'll earn double what he can for us too. That's football.

More than likely, he will be off this month if the deal is right for the club.
One thing for certain, no one will be tucking up Ashley, turning him over and tickling his tummy (obscene thought that it is).
He'll get every last penny out of PSG, Man U or whoever.

I just hope that a replacement is brought in beforehand, otherwise we'll end up getting help to ransom ourselves and paying over the top.
Sort out Cabella quickly or tell PSG, Cabaye is going nowhere until the summer.

He will go to PSG I'm certain.. and this month.
I think Tubbs is trying to get the new signing 'over the line' first.
Even if he goes with no incomings to follow... I'd play Sissoko in a slightly advanced Cabaye role as his replacement until the summer.
I'm much more confident about our midfield quality these days.
I saw a stat the other day that said, although Cabaye scores goals... Sissoko has made more goals for the team.

    Krul

    Santon
    Colo
    Iron Mike
    Debuchy

    Gouff
    Anita
    Tiote
    Sissoko
    HBA

    Remy

That is still a decent team.

We may struggle for dead balls though.

Wonder whether this transfer would in the rumor pages if he hadn't had a blinder on Saturday.

Sure would have been. He's had a blinder most of the season to be fair.

Its vital we bring in someone BEFORE we sell Cabaye because if we sell him first I could imagine them playing it out and seeing what happens until the summer and just repeat the Carroll situation. If we bring in Cabella and a striker Cabaye can leave with my blessing - he deserves to be playing top football but I hope its with PSG. I don't want him going to another English club and tbh I can't see that happening anyway.

I wonder what this will mean for the future of Debuchy if Yohan leaves.

We must sign first otherwise you purchase from a weak position. Spurs did their deals before selling Bale but even then paid over the odds because everyone knew it was happening. It would be best to issue some statement saying not for sale unless silly money arrives. Yeah a few heathens may get upset short term if he then goes but it will ensure we don't get take to the cleaners or end up signing no one.

Some would say however that we may deliberately sell first to ensure a situ arises where they can turn round and say "people wanted too much money and we are not mugs". Cynical but possibly believable given our league position is in little danger. We should finish in the top 9 regardless from this position.

Would be a strange move for Cabaye to go back to France in view of the fact they've just introduced the 75% tax rate, unless of course PSG are going to offer ridiculous wages to pay for his tax bill.

<laugh> the kiss of death from Joe.

Apparently, Kinnear said: "I will not let any player leave Newcastle United in this transfer window."

Doesn't mean he isn't selling them, he just won't let them leave. There is a difference.

No he can go on a technicality. Joe only stipulated "players". <ok>

Aye, that's probably fair enough. <ok>
Even Joe has realised he's not a player to his credit.
Just goes to show he's not as daft as people think.

Coming from joe, that is like the dreaded vote of confidence for a manager.

I'm not one for reporting hearsay normally as ITK's usually turn out to know **** all. However a lad I know (not overly well to be fair) reckons he got into conversation with a pissed up JK in Jesmond recently, and he revealed that the management/players do not really like HBA and Cisse as they are lazy bastards. Pardew wants rid of both (good luck with Cisse Alan). He went on to babble about Cabaye going to Paris, Cabella is replacing him. De Jong is very close. To be fair there is nothing there you couldn't have read in the Sun bar Cisse/HBA being disliked.

Probably a load of horseshite but I'm no worse than the papers for passing it on <laugh>
