I remember watching one of the Fisher-Price Early-Learning cup finals there at the old Wembley. The waterfall feature was amazing - the yellow river cascading down the steps towards the pitch, fuelled by a few hundred individuals facing the outer wall with their back to the game was a sight to behold……..
My first visit to Wembley was England v Northern Ireland in the old Home Internationals way back in the early seventies. Big Derek Doogan scored the only goal and the Irish played the rest of the game with 11 men in their penalty box!
My first was Wales v Scotland about '64 or '65. We were losing 2.1 so left early to get the train at Ninian Park Halt. 2 huge roars from the crowd. Wales won 3.2. Never left a game early since.
I did note the booing after the Scotland game TBF. That's modern day fans for you though sadly. I have had a few chuckles at the last round of Premier League fixtures that allowed fans in. So many were happy to boo their teams off getting at half time and full time, even after not getting chance to go to games for so long. Bet half the teams would rather continue behind closed doors to be honest. As for Wembley. Been for all Cardiff's "recent" finals and also had the pleasure of going to old Wembley for the Simod Cup Final between Everton and Forest, plus an American Football game between the Cleveland Brown's and Philidelphia Eagles back in the 80's. Much nicer stadium back then.
My mate is a Man U fan and got us both tickets for the FA Cup final v Arsenal in 1979. United scored two late goals to level at 2-2 and my mate dropped to his knees and kissed the concrete giving thanks for the great escape. While he was down there Alan Sunderland scored a last minute winner and I had to break the bad news to him

The press coverage of this game is relentless. Filled the first 8 pages of the Telegraph sports section yesterday with Wales getting a mention on page 9 I was too young for the 66 WC final but vividly recall the 1970 WC match and then the Gunther Netzer destruction of England in 1972.

Me too bcfc although it felt like the fates were against us. We travelled over 5,000 miles for 4 away games in 14 days. Due to covid restrictions support was sparse and the refs mostly appeared under instruction to give us f 'all. Neco Williams error yesterday didn't help. Contrast that with the opposition having multiple thousands more fans at 3 games, Denmark having only a five hundred trip yesterday and the EU falling over themselves to get those poor Danish fans to the game to compensate for Ericson's unfortunate incident. And as for the refs. Give Wales sod all and opponents virtually everything. And when they gave us something Bale f'ed it up. Okay, a tale of woe and self pity but justified in this instance. Our guy gets sent off v Italy then Lukaku does virtually the same and doesn't even get booked. Moore got rugby tackled before the Danes' second goal. Ref ignored it. Wilson's red, yes a yellow but a red? No way although too late in the game to affect things. At the end of the day, that's football and I'm no advocate of conspiracy theories but for all the above to conspire against us over 14 days is not right. Hope England stuff the Krauts on Tuesday to continue UK interest in the tournament.
